1/2 K

What a fantastic last few weeks of school we have had in 1/2K. We have been very busy with lots end of year activities and celebrations. Just looks at all the amazing days we have had.

We were lucky enough to be chosen to begin the Advent season by running the first week of Advent celebration with a whole school prayer service. The students ran a beautiful liturgy that introduced the season of Advent, the waiting of the birth of Jesus and the hope and anticipation we feel in the lead up to this magical time of the year. Some student spoke in front of the whole school and everyone sang beautifully to our Advent songs.

The first week of Advent is Hope and the children shared this special prayer of Hope as we lit the first candle on our Advent wreath.

We also celebrated St Francis Xavier Feast day with a free dress day, disco and class activities cities based around the life of St Francis Xavier. The children began the day with a lovely prayer service that was focused around the life of St Francis Xavier and how he spread the message and teachings of Jesus around the world. The children completed some classroom activities also based around his life and finished the celebrations with an amazing disco. We danced our little hearts out, played musical statues and even competed in an air guitar competition.

Finally the children were very excited about the new junior playground opening this week. We went on a tour with Mr Steve and discussed the rules of the new playground, how to play safely with everyone and asked some questions. The children have been so patient this term as they watched the playground being built. Look at their excited faces as they got to play on the new playground for the first time.

Next week we get to meet up with our new teachers and classes for 2023. Although we will all be a little sad to move on from our 2022 1/2K classmates, we know that we have had a wonderful year of amazing learning and can be grateful for so many opportunities that we have had this year.

Sadly we say goodbye to one of our wonderful Learning Support Officers Miss Ella, who has worked so closely with the students of 1/2K this year. Ella has worked in our classroom every Monday, Tuesday and Friday this year and the children have enjoyed her warmth, stories and assistance in achieving the learning goals. Ella has been an integral part of our classroom and she will be sadly missed as she moves onto new endeavours in her career in the education system.

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank all of our families for your ongoing support - it is greatly appreciated!

May you all have a peaceful, enjoyable Christmas season and a relaxing summer break.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
