Wellbeing

Ms Deb Haddow

Breakfast Club Baskets continue to be popular. Our Health Ambassadors and their teacher mentors are managing the program with great enthusiasm and diligence. Goodies are available at 8.30am, as we try to support students who may not have had any breakfast.

No Dogs On School Grounds Please We are fortunate enough to have Bella, our school Therapy Dog, on site 3 days a week. She has gone through extensive training to make it safe and permissible for her to be on the school grounds. She wears a Therapy Dog vest so you can clearly see that she is a trained Therapy Dog.

Unfortunately, other dogs are NOT permitted on the school grounds. It is unsafe for the students as untrained dogs can be unpredictable, some students have a fear of dogs, and the mess left can be a problem.

We have signs on our fences to show that dogs are not permitted on our school grounds. Could you please help us keep our students safe by ensuring that you do not bring your dog onsite.

Assembly  will be held every Friday afternoon from 2.40pm-3.20pm in the Gym.  Families are welcome to attend and we will also send a video link on DOJO.

Attendance We look closely at our attendance data and support students who may have trouble with regular attendance. Weekly meetings are offered to support students and families.

We also have weekly meetings with the families of students on Behaviour Support Plans so we can work together to understand situations happening and how we can best support the student to make great choices.

At our last Assembly for the Term we will recognise Term 1 student attendance.

Just a reminder that we are an accredited Sunsmart school. This means students are strongly encouraged to wear their broad brimmed school hat or stay in the shade. From September until May, no hat means no play. UV rays increase in intensity from September—these are what burn the especially sensitive skin of children—even on cloudy days.

Digital Technology and Addiction

Brad Marshall AKA The Unplugged Psychologist has spent over a decade at the cutting edge of healthy screen use. But don’t be confused by the name, Brad is NOT      anti-technology.

Brad is an internationally published author, researcher, clinician, and speaker. It’s Brad’s clinical experience that sets him apart from other speakers in the field of healthy tech use. While others speak about research and hypotheticals, he delivers from a place of real-world experience.

Most children and teenagers are pretty resistant to anyone suggesting they need to reduce their screen time. Brad has developed both student and parent talks that emphasizes the “traps” of gaming and the tactics game and social media developers use to encourage us to keep playing. Armed with this information, he will challenge young people and their families to find a healthy balance in their screen time within their home.
