Chatham Happenings

An update from the students of Chatham Primary School

On Tuesday 29th November Chatham Primary School hosted their first Pink Stumps Day to raise money for the McGrath Foundation. Students came dressed in pink or a cricket teams colours and gave a gold coin donation. There was also a Year 6 students v staff cricket match. The whole school came to watch this wonderful event which was umpired by Hunter Cotterell. The Year 6 students won a very close match, 72 – 64. Our school raised $2,175 for the McGrath Foundation which will go to funding breast care nurses throughout Australia. This is a combined amount from our gold coin donation and a sausage sizzle run at the Aussie Disposals Winter Gala Day.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this wonderful event.

Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads

This year 19 Year 5 and 6 students competed in the Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad. This competition tests students’ problem-solving skills through 5 tests of 5 questions that are sat throughout the year. Our students performed extremely well, and our results have placed our school inside the top 40% of all schools that participated in the competition. The students listed below achieved results placing them in either the top 10% or 25% of all students who participated in the competition. These students will be presented with a prize at assembly on Monday.

Congratulations to all participants.

Chatham’s Got Talent

The Year 6 Music Captains were super impressed with all the fabulous performances we got to enjoy as part of Chatham’s Got Talent. Students performed in the yarning circle over two ‘rain-free’ lunch times. It was wonderful to see the preparation which had gone into the performances as well as the confidence of the performers. It was particularly impressive to see those students who wrote original songs. Everyone who took part should feel extremely proud of their efforts.

Well done and thank you for taking part!
