Principal's Message

Rachel Baker | Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to express a huge welcome to our new Kindergarten families and our other new families who have joined the community at St Aidan's this year. The students have settled straight back in to the routine of St Aidan's School life with a big focus on learning. The students have been working hard completing assessments to help support the teachers planning as well as to help the students set their own personalised learning goals for Semester One. Teachers are looking forward to meeting with all of our parents next week during our student Goal Setting Meetings. Please make sure you have an appointment to meet with your child's teacher as this is an important time to help set up your child's positive learning growth for 2023.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my ZOOM check ins with all classes over the past few weeks. It has been wonderful seeing the students happy faces and hearing all about their highlights and what they have been learning about.

Mrs Green has visited each class to remind the students of our high expectations here at St Aidan's. She spoke about appropriate behaviour in the classrooms and on the playground. She also spoke about reminders and consequences if school rules are broken. All classrooms display our Positive Behaviour Charts so the students and the teachers all use the same common language. All teachers have the same expectations for our positive school environment at St Aidan's.

We are so excited with our St Aidan's Open Day coming up. Please spread the word about our AMAZING school. If you have a child that is starting Kindergarten next year please come along to our Open Day. Please collect your enrolment pack from our school office and we will make an appointment for your child's Kindergarten Enrolement Interview.

Playgroup is starting at St Aidan's. All parents and friends of St Aidans School, Parish and broader community with babies, toddlers and preschoolers are welcome. The more the merrier. This is also a great way for our pre schoolers to get to know our school and other children in our community before they start school. Playgroup will start on the Ist of March in our St Aidan's Parish Hall from 9-10.30am each Wednesday. Please see the Family Educator section of this Newsletter for more details.

Parents now have access to our St Aidan's COMPASS CALANDER where we will add all relevant dates for your convenience. Please see the General Information section of this Newsletter for the how to guide to access this calendar on Compass. All St Aidan's confirmed dates will be added over the coming weeks.

ST BRIGID'S FEAST DAY

On Wednesday 1 February the whole school celebrated St Brigid's Feast Day. When St Aidan's school was first established in 1915 the Brigidine Sisters staffed the school. St Brigid is a part of our school identity and as a school community we follow in the steps of St Brigid and wear the St Brigid's cross proudly on our school emblem.

Brigid, you were a woman of peace.

You brought harmony where there was conflict.

You brought light to the darkness.

You brought hope to the downcast.

May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious,

and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world.

Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.

Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.

Strengthen what is weak within us.

Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.

May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit.

 Amen.

FRONT PLAYGROUND GRASS UPGRADE

The students are extremely excited about the new upgrade to our front playground. The new artificial grass looks amazing and the students are loving playing on it.

Take care and God bless.

Kind regards,

Rachel Baker

Principal
