EB Research Fundraiser

On the 22nd of June one of the Senior VCAL groups hosted a Fundraiser for the EB foundation. Diana, Candice, Ethan, Alex and Bruce represented the college in a mammoth event raising around $3,000 and counting for the foundation. The steps that were involved with completing this project were planning the event, organising the location, catering and decorations, as well as setting up the website for booking and advertising the event. The students also had the chance to meet with the CEO of E.B Research Partnership Michael Hund on his recent trip to Australia. Alex said “Meeting the CEO was important because it gave us a drive to spread awareness and help raise money.” Michael was a truly inspiring guest speaker who encouraged students to find the fun in fundraising.

“The aim of this project was to raise awareness of this disease that isn’t well known and to raise funds to go towards finding a cure for” said Ethan. The students have so far raised $2,908 in funds and donations continue to come in. All donations are much appreciated and will be open until the end of week 1 term 3.

Students completed a design brief at the beginning. The design brief gave students a rough idea of the budget and the equipment needed. It allowed the students to set goals and targets to keep them on track.

The students had a range of mentors helping them along the way. “Our mentors that helped us plan the event were Ms Breen and Ms Chiodo. They were able to help us organise the catering, venue hire, decorations” said Candice.

The team members of the E.B Breakfast Fundraiser were Alex, Bruce, Candice, Diana, Ethan. “All members were allocated tasks that involved booking a venue, hiring a caterer, buying decorations, creating invitations and liaising with local businesses and community leaders.” Diana said.

The venue was located at the ACU cathedral hall, Fitzroy. It was a beautiful, old building to host the fundraiser. Thanks to School Council.
