Performing Arts Showcase
After two years of cancelled productions and COVID disruptions, the creative team were very proud to welcome families, friends and community to Gisborne Secondary College's 2022 Showcase on August 5th. Over the last twenty weeks, our best and brightest performing arts students collaborated to prepare a program based around the concept of 'change'.
This showcase was student-led, they wrote their own dramatic works, composed their own musical arrangements, choreographed dances, plotted lighting, created soundtracks, made props and sourced costumes. Student Alumni and our Year Twelve cohort mentored and inspired the younger performers, and it was such a privilege to see the entire company unified in achieving a common goal.
It was also great to see the PAC and buildings around lit up with colourful projections showcasing a compilation of the work completed in 2021 by Jim Coad and our creative arts students. The road to the the showcase wasn't easy, with illnesses plaguing our cast and disrupting our rehearsal processes (two members of our creative team missed the whole show, out with COVID), but our talented company crafted a marvellous night of entertainment.
Projection Art
On Friday 5 August as part of GSC’s production –“Change,” Jim Coad (last years Creative Worker in School) returned to the school. He projected images created by students onto the PAC building adding an exciting new dimension to the night’s performances.
