Ski Camp
On Monday 15th August, we headed up to Harrietville for the annual Ski Camp. After a lunch stop in Bright, Monday afternoon was spent settling in to the lodge, collecting and fitting gear in preparation for skiing and boarding on Mount Hotham. Monday night, we played group games and the students were briefed on Alpine Safety and the day ahead.
Tuesday we were up bright and early (just before 6am) so that we could make it up the mountain for the 8:30am lessons. After their lessons, student's then practised their new skills in small groups supervised by GSC staff and volunteers. By the end of Day 1, all students had ridden a lift and were gaining confidence in their abilities!
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - involved more lessons and skill development with most students progressing to Blue Runs by Thursday afternoon. Overall is was an amazing experience and the students displayed enormous resilience dealing with early starts and aching muscles!
A huge thank you to Parent Helper, Brett Taylor and Volunteer, Jeremy Coyne for giving up their time to make the camp such a success.
