R.E. NEWS

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary

On Monday (15th August) all students will attend Mass at 10.00am to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Assumption marks the end of Mary’s earthly life as she was taken to heaven, body and soul. It is an important day to remember as Mary was taken both physically and spiritually into Heaven to live with her son, Jesus, for ever.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday 18th September at Mary Help of Christians Church. Students wishing to receive the sacrament must be baptised and have received the Sacraments of Confession and Eucharist. Please ensure candidates send in the information sheets and payment as soon as possible.

Family Mass

Our next family Mass will be on Sunday 21st August. All families are invited to attend our Years K, 3 & 6 Family Mass at 9.00am at Mary Help of Christians Church. Please stay and join us for Morning Tea provided by families from Kindergarten, Year 3 and Year 6.  It is a wonderful parish morning and we hope that you can make it.

LIBRARY NEWS

Premier's Reading Challenge - Important

The closing date for reading is:  Friday, 19 August 2022. That's 2 more weeks only!

If you have elected to complete this with your child at home, please ensure all the books are uploaded by this date. The system will not let you add books after this date to be included in this year's challenge and this only leaves a week for the library staff to validate the reading log. Thank you.

CBCA Book Week and Book Character Parade

Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week is in Week 6 this term! So, dust off the costumes for your favourite book character and get ready for the best books for Australian children winners to be announced! We are busy in the library getting ready with decorations and with lots of students colouring Australian animals to enhance the 'Dreaming with Eyes Open' theme.

The 'Come as your Favourite Book Character Parade' days are:

Primary - Wednesday, 24 August.

Infants - Thursday, 25 August.

It is important your child knows what character they are and from what book.

It is always such an exciting day!!!
