MESC Learning Commons

The MESC Learning Commons incorporates the Library and Information Technology areas of the College.  The Learning Commons is open Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm and closed on Friday at recess for staff meetings.

If you are looking for help with your research, setting up your new iPad or computer, writing a bibliography, resetting your password and getting on the network, or just need something to do at lunchtime then this is the place to be.

We offer lunchtime activities and some of these might spark your interest - all students, and staff, are welcome to join us.

Craft Club - starting on Monday 20th June for anyone interested in beading and knitting, or perhaps you have a craft that you can teach others.

Ripple 2016 Club - starting on Tuesday 14th June we will be meeting with students and staff interested in helping put together our end-of-year College magazine.  We will then be meeting every Tuesday lunchtime.

Between Covers Book Club - every Wednesday lunchtime and run by Library Monitors (Lucaya and Violetta).  Just bring a book and your lunch to join in discussions about books, authors, play games related to books, and other fun activities.  

3D Design Club - every Thursday lunchtime for students and staff interested in 3D design and printing - you will also be able to print your very own designs.  Take a look at www.tinkercad.com for some basic designs and instructions.

Jigsaw Club - Friday lunchtime - well really everyday is a jigsaw day here as we have one permanently 'on the go' with many hands joining in.  At the moment we have 'wasgij' and it's proving quite challenging for some!

Students are only permitted to use their ipads/netbooks/technology, for games and/or YouTube, in the Learning Commons during recess and lunchtime on Tuesdays.  All other days will be 'technology free'.

Students will continue to be able to complete school work at all times and we will be monitoring the use of technology for this purpose.  As always we are available to assist if necessary.

Everyone is welcome to come into the Learning Commons (Library) and if you have any questions then please ask the Year 7 Library Monitors (Belle, Poppy, Marcus, Callum) or the Year 9 Library Monitors (Kiana, Jocelyn, Lucaya, Violetta, Eliza, Jamey, Ben, Nathan, Corey) who will be happy to help you.
