JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Junior Master Chef

This year MESC had its first Junior Master Chef on Wednesday 18th May. Local Primary Schools were provided with the opportunity to have their Grade 5 students participate. Firstly students had to apply by completing an application form and submitting a muffin recipe of their choice. After the selection process a group of students from Mount Eliza Primary School were chosen to be part of the cook off. The students worked really well and had a lot of fun preparing their selected recipe. Three Year 10 Food & Technology students (Amy Anderson, Maria Pappas and Shenae Greig) assisted the Grade 5 students with use of electrical equipment and provided general advice in the kitchen. Brett Bell (Principal of MEPS) and Danni Vaughan had the task of tasting all of the muffins to select the winning product. It was a difficult decision, however, in the end the results were as follows:-

  • First  – Alex Lanting and Rye Leitch (lemon yoghurt muffins)
  • Second – Kristen Ling and Brydee Jovan ( Chocolate chip muffins)
  • Special Commendation – Laura Byrne (Raspberry and white chocolate muffins)

Year 7 Boys Soccer

The Year 7 Boys Soccer Team contested gallantly despite being undermanned with only seven players. There were many highlights during the day and all of our players demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the competition, and appeared to enjoy the opportunity to demonstrate their skilful moves against some very talented teams. The forward line consisting of Daniel Briggs, Oliver McLean, Cameron Sexton and Mitchell Bates-Webb executed some superb passages of play. Similarly, Josh Berry, Nathan Acheson and Josh Berry were effective in defence. David Pillinger played very well as the goal keeper and did his best to keep our chances alive. The team ranked 3rd overall and their best result was a 6 to 5 goal victory against Somerville Secondary College.
