Premiers’ Reading Challenge
Some of our Year one students tell us about their favourite place to read books.
Isaac M 1W - “The best place to read books is in my bed.”
Josh 1W - “I love listening to books in my mum and dad’s bed.”
Jemma H 1D - “At my grandma’s house I read stories to my grandma’s dog on the stairs. Me and my grandma’s dog grew up together.”
Hayley B 1W - “I like reading books at Ava’s house because she has lots of fairy tales.”
Liam B 1D - “I like listening to stories at school.”
Portfolios
I hope our Prep - 2 parents enjoyed sharing the portfolios with their children and seeing the growth in their learning last semester. Please ensure that all portfolios have been returned to school so that new work can be added.
Parent Opinion Survey
The 2016 Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted during Term 3 from 25 July to 29 July 2016.
The survey is an important part of every school's development of parent engagement strategies and assists with future planning and improvement.
Parents from our community are randomly selected to participate in the annual survey, which is confidential and anonymous.
If you receive a survey envelope, please ensure that you return your completed survey to the school by Friday 29 July. For any queries, please contact the school.
School Uniform-Winter Accessories
As the weather has turned colder I appreciate that students want to wear additional items of clothing to keep warm. This is a reminder that any jackets, beanies and gloves worn to school should be in the school colours of navy blue or red. As the classrooms are heated additional items are only to be worn before and after school and during recess and lunch breaks. They are not to be worn in classrooms or during learning times.
Curriculum Day
FRIDAY 19 August
There will be a pupil-free day on Friday 19 August so teachers can participate in some important professional learning sessions. This is a valuable time for our whole staff to work together on important personal and curriculum development.
Students do not attend on this day. OSHCLUB will operate if numbers meet the requirement.
Book Fair 2016
The Scholastic Book Fair is arriving at our school on Thursday 4 August. This is a fantastic opportunity for parents and students to purchase quality books at discounted prices. As a result of your purchases, the school will receive a substantial number of free books for our library.
There will be an opportunity for parents and children to purchase books and stationery on Monday 8 August and Tuesday 9 August. The Book Fair will be open before school from 8.30 to 9.30am and after school from 3.30 to 4.30pm on these days.
We are looking for parent helpers so if you are able to help on one or more of the above times, please return your notice to the office or phone/email the office by Wednesday 3 August. Thankyou to the parents who have already offered their help.
See you at the Book Fair!
