Religious Education

On June 30, Year 9 participated in a Medieval Banquet that was held in the Mount Erin Hall. The Medieval Banquet was a very unique and interesting experience. The year group participated in a variety of fun activities including prayers, costumes, jokes, a skit, dancing, a feast and medieval games.
Over the course of the banquet we learnt about the different aspects of a banquet in the medieval times. Each class was assigned a different topic to research so they could inform the rest of the year. Selected students commenced the banquet with a prayer service. This was followed by a jester entertaining the crowd with some Medieval themed jokes. Afterwards another group of students presented a humorous skit that encouraged the audience to join in. This skit was shortly followed by a dance carefully choreographed by another Year 9 class, before lunch was served. Medieval food was substituted for delicious pizza that everyone could enjoy together.
To conclude the feast the group learnt about some of the games played in the medieval times such as, tug of war, ring a ring o’roses and skittles. In conclusion this was a very successful event, that gave us an insight into life in the medieval period, that was enjoyed by everyone involved.
