This year we offered the Big Science Competition instead of the ICAS Science test. Students were able to complete the test online. The questions tested critical thinking and problem solving skills, not just factual recall. Questions are set in real-life, contemporary contexts, making them relatable and interesting for the students.
I would like to congratulate the following students on their outstanding results.
Olivia Croker was awarded a Credit
Jordan McDonald was awarded a Credit
Thomas O'Brien was awarded a Distinction
Caitlin Whiter was awarded a Credit.
To achieve a credit the student is in the top 20 % and achieve a distinction the student is in the top 10% of the candidature.
I am hoping that we will be able to build on this success next year with more participants.
