Principal's Report

Goodbye

At this time of year we farewell staff and students.

We are saying goodbye to Aleisha Carroll, Marg Smith and Adriana De Napoli - three of our amazing Educational Support staff. Aleisha, Marg and Adriana have worked with our students in 1:1 roles and have provided care and support for students to an amazingly high standard. I know the students they have worked with will miss them next year, as will our staff and community. Our Educational Support staff often undertake roles within the background and unnoticed, however, the role they play in the functioning of a school is critical for the success of all students.

I wish Aleisha, Marg and Adriana all the very best for 2020 and beyond, and say thank you for your time at Marlborough Primary School.

Our Year 6 students will be finishing their Primary School education this week. This marks the culmination of 7 years of work for not only them but their families. I will have the pleasure of addressing them at their Graduation Ceremony later this week, however, they have been an outstanding group of student leaders and it has been our pleasure to have them at Marlborough Primary.

We also have a few other families moving on at the end of this year. I wish these students best wishes as they move on to their new schools.

Thank-You

Each year when we reflect on the year that has passed it never fails to impress me on what has been achieved. This achievement is the result of a collective effort from all parts of our community.

To our staff, I would like to say thank you for the support, care, and dedication that has been shown for the learning and wellbeing of all of our students. Each year presents our staff with a range of challenges and these have been met with a positive mindset and an approach of overcoming obstacles as a team of professionals.  It is always a privilege to work alongside you in the work we do, and I look forward to what 2020 will bring.

To our parents and community, there are numerous thanks for your support not only for our classroom programs but our whole school changes. Our School Council and Parents Association have provided ongoing support to our school and our wider community have been willing to get behind fundraising and social activities, which add to the community spirit that is Marlborough Primary. It has been a year of planning with our outdoor spaces and I look forward to this, and other, planning coming into fruition in 2020.

Finally to our students, thank-you for making Marlborough Primary the school that it is. You come to school each day ready to learn, grow and achieve which lights up our classrooms and brings joy to our staff and community. I hope that you each have a wonderful break and I look forward to seeing you back in 2020.

2020

At the end of this week, we are all able to take a break from the rigours of learning and be able to spend time with family and friends over the break. For students, school resumes on Thursday, January 30th with staff back a few days earlier.  I wish all of our families a great break and hope that your celebrations, whatever they may be, provide an opportunity for reflection, hope and a renewal of spirit.
