Basketball

After last Saturday's forced rest day I hope all players are ready for this Saturday's games. There are only two rounds to go, followed by the finals.

Celebrating 50 Years of Basketball at St Pius X College

In 1967 St Pius X College started playing Basketball as part of the House Sports competition. I’m not sure where the games were played as Basketball courts would have been few and far between. Fifty years on we have four indoor courts and at this moment 42 teams with 380 students playing in the IPSHA and ISA competitions.

GAME TIME CHANGES:

I have had to make a number of changes from my original plan. Please note changes below.

15A Game times: The 15As will play Central Coast Grammar this Saturday at 8:00am at Oxford Falls then they will travel to Strathfield to play St Patrick’s at 11:00am.

13E Game time and venue changed: The 13E team will play Oakhill Navy at Chatswood at 9:30am. Parents can park in the yard (enter the yard from Kirk Street).

The 17C team will play at 10:00am

The 14C team will play at 11:00am

All D team players will need to organise transport to Moss Vale Stadium this Saturday.

After a week's respite from the heat Cricket returns this Saturday for all teams. Senior College Trials

A reminder that you must register your son to attend the Senior College team trials, including boys interested in playing in the Open teams.  These will be held over two Sundays commencing Sunday 19th and then again on Sunday 26th.

The trials are for boys in Year 7 through Year 10.  We run two separate sessions for each age-group so every boy has more than one opportunity to display their abilities.

Boys are expected to attend both days to be eligible for team selection.  Please contact Mr Simon Yue, Senior Football Convenor, if there are extenuating circumstances where attendance is not possible.

Opens trial will be held on the second Sunday following the first trial match.  This is open to all boys interested in playing in the 2nd, 3rd, 4ths.  The 1st XI team selection will continue to be coordinated and organised by Mr Steve Quilty and Mr Simon Yue.  Players interested in trialling for the 1st XI should contact Mr Quilty or Mr Yue directly.

This Opens’ trial will be followed up by other sessions organised through the College before final Open teams are selected.

BBQ Volunteers

Additionally the Committee will be operating the Old Boys Kiosk offering light refreshments for sale.  We are seeking some parent assistance on the day so if possible please turn up to the kiosk on the day, or contact Mary-Ann Back via backs@bigpond.net.au to volunteer.

WE NEED YOU !

The committee is also seeking parents interested in joining the Football Committee in some capacity.  A number of the committee will end their association with the College soon and we want to ensure a smooth transition to allow the continuing support the Committee offers to the College Football community to continue.  The committee AGM will be held on Monday 6th March at 6:30pm at the Sarto Centre. Please email footballclub@pandf.spx.nsw.edu.au if you are interested or want some more information, or just come along.
