Primary Co-Curricular Report

The first few weeks of this term are jam-packed with various events and fixtures. There is the SAPSASA table tennis teams event in a fortnight as well as the Catholic Schools Cross Country championships in the Eastern Parklands. Things are hectic! Later in the term the Primary Athletics team will compete in the North Adelaide SAPSASA Championships at Santos Stadium.

All of our teams were back in action over the weekend with the football team going down to Rostrevor College in a tough match. Mr Vo was pleased with the second half but there are a few things to work on at training during the week.

The Primary A Soccer team played Cabra Dominican College here at school. The boys were looking forward to a home game but lost 1-6 after a tight first half.

The Year 3/4/5 Blue soccer teams played against Pembroke here at school. The number 1 blue team had a big win whilst the number 2 blue team fought out a draw. Well done to all boys on showing great teamwork.

The Year 3/4/5 Black team played against Pulteney Grammar at the Barton Grounds. Black number 1 had a close win 4-3 whilst Black number 2 lost in a close match 4-6. Mrs Ronoastro was impressed with the way that all boys went about their play and competed in good spirit. A big thank you to Mrs Ronoastro for supervising the Black team in Mrs La Forgia’s absence.

The blue lacrosse team played against Burnside. A couple of players were out travelling and 2 others failed to show up which was disappointing. The boys battled hard but ran out of gas to go down 6-10. The gold team had a BYE but are back in action this weekend.

Cross Country

Trials for the Primary Cross Country team were held on Wednesday 2 August from 8am on the oval. Information was posted on the SEQTA parent portal and in classrooms for those boys wishing to trial. The Catholic Schools Event takes place on Thursday 10 August in the Parklands off Bartels Road in the city. Good luck to all boys trialling.

Table Tennis

Isaiah Lee continues to perform well at national level in table tennis. At the recent Nationals held in Hobart, Tasmania,  Isaiah achieved the following results:

  • Nominated No 4 in the order of merit for U13 Boys. Only individuals ranked in the top 10 receive an award
  • Silver in U13 Boys Teams event
  • Silver in U13 Boys Doubles
  • Bronze in U13 Mixed Doubles
  • Bronze in U15 Boys Doubles

Photos are attached of Isaiah with some of his South Australian teammates and their medallions.

Further to these achievements, during the holiday period, Isaiah secured the gold medal in the SAPSASA State Individual Championships, winning a tough final 2-1. A picture is attached of the medal recipients from the different schools within Adelaide.

Congratulations, Isaiah. Keep it up!

Indoor Cricket

During the holiday break, Declan Dunne and Nathaniel Forby represented South Australia at the National Indoor Cricket Championships in Mackay, Queensland. South Australia won 5 out of 9 games which was a strong effort. Attached are some picture of both Declan and Nathaniel in action.

Congratulations to both boys on their selection in the South Australian team.
