Welcome to Term 3!

This term is very exciting for the Music Department with various performance opportunities and community events.

Music Information Evening

On Wednesday 16 August2017, the Music Information Evening will take place in the Music Suite. From 6.00 – 6.45pm new and existing families are welcomed to attend the Middle School Information Session for Year 7, 8 and 9 for 2018. A range of information regarding Scholarships, as well as subject information will be explained and you will also have the opportunity to ask questions, listen to the Stage Band and student experiences.

 

The Senior Session for Years 10, 11 and 12 for 2018 will be from 7.00 – 7.30pm and will cover a range of information, in particular SACE offerings and changes. It is a very beneficial evening for students to be correctly informed about Music Pathways.

 

ABODA Festival

On Thursday 24 August and Friday 25 August we have various bands competing in the annual Australian Band and Orchestra Director’s Association (ABODA) Festival at Westminster School, Marion. A letter regarding specific information, such as departure times, will be distributed shortly.

 

However, please see below the on stage times for the following ensembles:

Thursday 24 August – Concert Band 3 On Stage at 8.50am

Thursday 24 August – Concert Band 1 On Stage at 2.45pm

Friday 25 August – Stage Band 2 On Stage at 2.10pm

Friday 25 August – Stage Band 1 On Stage at 7.00pm

 

Annual Music Concert

Last week a letter for the Annual Music Concert was distributed to all involved students. Please be aware that for students who are involved (see ensemble list below) it is a compulsory and very exciting community event for our students:

There will be some food options available for purchase on the evening as well as drinks. We are asking for all willing families to make any possible donations for our raffle on the evening. If all items could please be brought over to the Music Suite by Tuesday 29 August 2017. Thank you to all of the families who have nominated to assist on the evening and be part of the Friends of Music Group. Please ensure that tickets are purchased prior to the evening and this can be done via the following link: Music Concert Tickets. Tickets do not need to purchased for students who are involved in the concert.

Catholic School’s Music Festival

The Catholic School’s Music Festival will take place on Tuesday 19 September and Wednesday 20 September at the Entertainment Centre. On Tuesday 19 September the Big Band Theory will perform on the main stage as a support act and Stage Band 1 and Percussion Ensembles in the ORB (Foyer). On Wednesday 20 September the 6/7 choir will perform as part of the Festival Choir. On both nights the senior Baritone Students will perform as part of the Combined Schools Baritone Ensemble.

 

The opportunity to perform and share one’s talent is such a joy for all involved, both performers and audience. I look forward to seeing many of you over the coming weeks.
