District Cross Country

On Tuesday 8th May, we went to District cross country. 43 students from Ripponlea participated and we had a great day. We were all very supportive of each other and 2 of us received medals. Ariane Russell (9/10 years) and Spencer Greenberg (12/13 years) received a bronze medal and will go through to Divisions along with Miyabi Akiya (9/10 years – 5th) on the 29th May. Well done to everyone for competing and thank you to everyone that helped.

Athletics club is on every Wednesday at lunch time after the bell, so that we can practice all the athletic event disciplines for Term 3 athletics.

Athletics Club

Our athletics lunchtime club is up and running every Wednesday with Jo and our external coach Shaun Bassett. We are practising all of the athletic event disciples and we’ve started so far with running and High Jump. If children would like to be involved in grades 3-6, please come along on a Wednesday lunchtime. An announcement will be made on the day as a reminder as well as where to meet.

Gymnastics

We’ve had a great time rotating, balancing and jumping with our three sessions of gymnastics delivered by Gen from gymnastics 4 Hire in grades 3-6 using our sporting school grant. There are a few options to take up gymnastics outside of school which are close to Ripponlea: The Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics Club (41-43 Green St, Prahran) and Wesley Lions Gymnastics Club (577 St Kilda Rd).  Check out the PE blog for some action shots.

Grade 5/6 Sport

Our scheduled second round games took place on Friday 18th May. We headed off to Hurlingham Park and Gardenvale Senior Campus for our tee ball, netball, football and soccer games. We had wins in tee ball, boys soccer and football along with closely contested netball and girls soccer games. Next games are against Elwood Primary school.
