Facilities Updates

Playground

Playground updates over the Term 3 school holidays.

Edging has been placed around the playground to ensure that the new delivery of soft fall stays in place.

This edging has created a fresh look for our playground whilst ensuring that our students can play safely in this area.

We are also in the process of planning and designing additional play areas within the school.  Several companies have inspected our play areas and are in the process of providing quotes for a variety of playground options for our school.

Grounds/Maintenance Person

You may have noticed a different Maintenance Person working around our school over the past few months.  Brendan Corcoran is currently on leave and is temporarily replaced by Matt Miller who will be managing the grounds and maintenance role until the end of the year.  Matt’s primary role will be to ensure that mowing, spraying and trimming is up to date as we head into the Spring season. Matt will mostly be present at school on Mondays, so please say hello if you see him working around the school.

Capital Works Project

We are now in the design stage!

Exciting times are ahead with the continuation of the Capital works project.  Architects have been appointed and have received feedback from many stakeholders within the school including, School Council, students, staff and the Leadership team.  We are now waiting with anticipation for them to share their ideas, proposals and design features aligned with our budget.

More information to share with you once the second stage of this project has commenced.

Bushfire Preparedness

CSPS is a BARR school which means that we are on the Bushfire at Risk Register (BARR).

Inspections and compliance checks are implemented annually to ensure that our school environment is safe and therefore meets the requirements and guidelines set out by the Department.

This includes

Review and update of our Emergency management plan with particular focus on bushfire preparedness (Shelter in place and off site evacuation drills)

Audit and inspection of trees, boundary perimeters and fuel zone areas within the school.

Maintenance of vegetation, including scheduled mowing, spraying, removal and pruning of trees.

Regular cleaning of gutters and removal of debris within the school yard

During the Term 3 holidays tree experts and arborists have commenced the annual review of the trees in our school grounds.

Matt Miller, our grounds person is working additional hours to ensure that the grass, paths and gutters are well maintained.
