Parent and Community

To help celebrate 10 years of Nude Food Day we will be participating in an extra special Nude Food October! Nude Food has not only helped Australian student’s make healthier options it has also raised our awareness of environmental factors by reducing our use of plastic packaging.

We will officially kick off on Monday 14th October, just in time for Nutrition Australia's National Nutrition Week!

During this time we ask that students bring Nude Food everyday! Yes everyday for the rest of October. I know we can do it and you might even discover how easy it is to have Nude Food all the time.

We will be participating in various challenges during this time, which puts us in the running to win gift cards and prizes!

From the Sustainability Leaders

A strong focus on Nude Food will help us take more pride in our school by picking up rubbish in the yard and recycling the paper.

We are sure that most people have noticed that when the student representatives are out in the yard, a way that you can get some points is by picking up rubbish in the school grounds.

Already we send around 4.8 and 12.7 million tons of plastic to landfill each year, so it's our responsibility to take care of our school and our earth. We, as the SET team encourage everyone to try to bring nude food as much as possible because every bit counts.

At home you can help the environment by having a compost bin at you house, using a water bottle instead of a plastic bottles, using a non- plastic bag when you go shopping, and even just turning off the light when you leave a room.

Nude Food is food without extra plastic. This reduces the amount of plastic that needs to go in bins to be sent to landfill. Reusable containers are a great way to bring food, as they can last for a very long time.

Thank you

Annual Footy Colours Day

On the 20th of September 2019 we held our annual Footy Colours Day. The focus of the day was to raise money for Fight Cancer Foundation. Fight Cancer Foundation is a national charity dedicated to providing care, treatment and support for cancer patients and families, and funding cancer research. The whole school looked fabulous in their footy colours, the parade was a huge success. During the day, junior, middle and senior school did fun footy activities, in spirit of the day. The PFA organised a special lunch, which was delicious. Overall it was a fantastic day, thanks to the students, parents and teachers!

All students are now required to wear a hat whilst outside eg. yard play, physical vibe and school excursions.   If a child is not wearing a hat they will be required to be in an undercover area.  Hats are available for purchase via the Sports Uniform order form.  The next order will be placed early Term 4.  Please see the office to place an order.  Non-school hats will be accepted for a short while in allowance for the purchase of the school required hat.

Envision Hands

Thank you to everyone who has been collecting bottle tops to help Envision Hands, we have had an overwhelming response which is wonderful.

We have been given a few tips to follow:

  • We can only use flat top bottle caps with a grade 2 or 4 plastic. So, any with a ‘2’ or ‘4’ on the actual cap (not the bottle) will be fine! The number must be stand alone, not within a code. This will generally include soft drink, water and milk bottle caps. To see if the cap is usable, you can look at the numbers located on the underside of the cap. Any caps without numbers will be unusable as we have no way of knowing what grade plastic they are.
  • We also ask that the caps are please rinsed before they are donated and that no extra plastic, metal or other material is attached.
  • We also cannot accept any larger lids, such as those found on Vegemite or peanut butter jars as they are too difficult to process.

PLEASE ENSURE ALL BOTTLE LIDS ARE WASHED BEFORE SENDING TO SCHOOL.
