TIM CHANG (Year 10)

Hello everyone, my name is Tim, the badminton player, from Taiwan and I was born in Taiwan Kaohsiung (Gao Xiong) city and Feng Shan District on May 18 2005 and I have three cousins, my oldest cousin is living in America.  Taiwan has an extremely high standard of living, with great food, good healthcare, comfortable accommodation, extremely convenient transportation and blazing fast internet.  Neighbouring countries are the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the northwest, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south.  The main island of Taiwan has an area of 35,808 square kilometres, with mountain ranges dominating the eastern two-thirds and plains in the western third, where its highly urbanised population is among the most densely populated countries.  The educational system in Taiwan is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education.  The system produces pupils with some of the highest test scores in the world, especially in Mathematics and Science.  I came to Australian in 2015. Studying in Australia is hard because I am not good at spelling and writing.

CALVIN HAO (Year 10)

Hi everyone, my name is Calvin, I come from TaiYuan in the north of China which is near BEIJING.  There are four people in my family, my mother, my father, my older brother and me. My older brother is studying in Russia. My home country is Shanxi in Northern China which has its own unique language, customs and has abundant land, so it has been called the "Land of Fishing and Rice".

I came to Melbourne on July 14, 2019, The teachers here are very friendly and the way of learning is very different from China. Frankston High School is good for sports like swimming, running, basketball and football.  I like Frankston High School’s educational system.

BEE KRUOCH (Year 10)

Hi, my name is Limheang Kruoch, I have known as Bee in Australia.  I was born in Cambodia, Phnom Penh.  Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia and it very close to Thailand and Vietnam.  I have a big family there are nine members in my family including four brothers, they are all in Australia, but I am the only girl.  I came to Australia on 31 September 2019.  I go to Frankston High School which is one of the best schools in Australia.  I have made a lot of new friends from different countries, some are Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai.  School here is very different from that in Cambodia.  We don’t use laptops or overhead projectors; we just use a white board.  I really like Frankston High School because teachers are all nice and they help students when they need help and the buildings look more modern than in Cambodia.  The reason that I came to Australia is because I like the Australian culture and I would like to learn more about other countries.  Back to my country Cambodia, it is one of the best countries and it is best known as the home of the colossal temples of Angkor Wat and for the brutal Khmer Rouge era of the 1970s and the resulting civil war.  Cambodian history encompasses both some of humanity's greatest artistic accomplishments and some of the most horrific deeds.  Cambodia is not a rich country and we use “Khmer” language as we talk to each other.  Cambodia is very cheap for tourists to visit because stuff in Cambodia is not very expensive and Cambodian people are very kind, we help each other as much as we can.  The reason that you guys should visit Cambodia is because Cambodia has the best culture and Angkor Wat in Siemreap is the best known of the tourist spots.  Angkor Wat was constructed with blocks of sandstone and made by Suryavarman II. Angkor Wat stretches across more than 200 acres, all temple walls are decorated with thousands of bas-reliefs representing important deities and figures in the Hindu and Buddhist religions as well as key events in its narrative tradition.  Also, there are many beautiful beaches that tourists can visit, including Koh Rong and Koh Songsa.  I highly recommend these places for all the tourists that want to visit Cambodia.

JASON GONG (Year 9)

My name is Jason Gong, I was born in Bole City, Xinjiang, China, on March 1, 2006. My health was not good when I was a child, as I lacked oxygen when I was born. When I was eight or nine years old, my body slowly improved. Bole is a small town, only 260,300 people, covering an area of 7,500 square kilometres. The famous scenic spot around Bole is Sairam Lake, as is the last place the warm and humid Atlantic air reaches.

On May 18, 2019, my dad and I came to Australia. When I came to Frankston, I lived with my uncle and aunt, but now my father and I are renting a house outside. I like studying here, it is different from the Chinese education system. When I was in school in China, there were eight classes a day, and I had a lot of homework, and I usually had to write until around one o’clock in the night. Here, there are only six classes a day and very little homework. Sometimes I play basketball with Jason Wang. In Frankston High School, everyone is friendly.

JASON WANG (Year 10)

I live with my father and mother, my mother always cook delicious dinners. I came to Australia in 2019. I like Australian study style because I think it’s very relaxing and interesting. Frankston High School is a big and beautiful school. It’s very pleasant to study at Frankston High School and the classes are very very interesting. Teachers are very kind to me. I’m a very quiet student, I don’t like speaking up in a group, I like to do things by myself.

BARNETT LACUSTALES (Year 10)

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!!  I am here to introduce myself, my name is Barnett and I am a future swimmer/guitarist from the Philippines, and hello from the country with the most islands in South Pacific aka the Philippines. I was born in the city of Cotabato which is a small city. I came to Australia 2 years ago, July 2019. I think a lot of people know that the Philippines is a simple country and it is called The Rising Tiger best known for the Yamashita treasure which people still search for. Comparing my life in the Philippines to that of Australia there are many differences; in the Philippines we see a lot of polluted areas including beaches, stacks and stacks of garbage floating around the area and the government cannot fix the problem. What is it like for me studying in Australia? living in Australia for me is more than just about the place, it makes for a bright future. Living here gives me knowledge, courage and respects from other people. What I like about Frankston High School is I have made some friends and some friendly teachers to whom I can go to If I have an problems.

RYAN PAN (Year 10)

Hello, my name is Ryan, l come from Shanghai, I was born in there, Shanghai is a big place. There are attractions such as the Bund and Nanjing Road. I like to go to the Bund because the Bund has beautiful night views. Shanghai has a population of 24.28 million. I came to Australia on July 15, 2019。Studying in Australia makes me very happy because there isn’t as much homework as in China. It's very good in Australia. I like it very much that the teachers are very friendly.

CON NGUYEN (Year 10)

This is Con n

ow, I will introduce myself and where I live; after that I’ll tell you about my journey to Australia. I’m Con Nguyen, also know as Chris. I’m 16 years old and live in Ho Chi Minh city. Ho Chi Minh city is the most populous and the biggest city in Vietnam. Vietnam is an ideal place for tourists because it is cheap, beautiful and its history is remarkable. There are lots of incredible places that you should travel to such as Hang Son Doong which is the largest cave system in the world, and there is also Cavern Pagoda and the Tomb of Khai Dinh. So, I visited Australia many times but this year is different because this time I have come here to study. I arrived in Australia one month ago and it was very tough for me because my English is not as good as others, but I also believe that I can improve if I participate fully in all aspects of life here. Now I'm in Australia and have been studying here for 2 weeks already. Studying in Australia is such a big deal for me because of the language, culture, and even the way of teaching is different. However, Frankston High School is an exquisite school with outstanding teachers and welcoming friends. The thing that I like most about the school is you can choose the subjects that you are interested in, therefore you can concentrate on what you’re good at and don’t need to worry about other subjects! To sum up, I would like to say that I will try my best and never give up although it is very challenging.

MYLES SHIU (Year 10)

Hi, I am Myles, I was born in Hong Kong. My home country is literally like an island about one third the size of Victoria full of cities except for some rural aeras where you would find fields and mountains. We are famous for our population density. The air there is quite polluted, which makes a person with a sensitive respiratory system’s life harder.

When I came to Australia, the first thing I noticed was the fact that Australia is huge and took me more than 4 hours to get from the northern part to the southern part of Australia despite my plane flying near Mach 1. The food here is delicious and not to mention how fresh the produce is here.

Studying in Australia is a bit of a challenge for me because I worry about how I will fit in and how I will cope with the work. I often stressed about my work because of how I struggled to catch up to the rest of my class during the lockdown period, which totally stressed me out from top to bottom.

I now feel less stressed about my work and feel happier studying here. The teachers are nice here and the school campus, just the junior’s side, is four times larger than the school that I have previously attended in my home country. I am enjoying life here at Frankston High School.
