STUDENT SUPERVISION BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL

Please be aware that teachers are on duty in the grounds on the:

7-10 Campus: from 8.30am before school and  until 3.40pm after school.

Senior Campus: from 8.00am before school and until 3.40pm after school.

It is advisable for students to arrive at school after supervision begins unless they have:

  • scheduled class time
  • a planned activity (eg semper squad)

Please note that some buses leave after the conclusion of yard duty.  Students are expected to behave in a responsible manner when in school uniform, before and after school.  The public often contact Frankston High School to comment on the excellent behaviour of students in public areas.

Compass App is a great way to access your child's timetable, see scheduled learning tasks, approve events, read latest school notifications, school reports and many more.  Simply Download the App from your App Store/Play Store.

2021 Compass Cards

With the rollout of the 2021 Compass Cards, can we please remind students that cards need to be at school and available at all times.  Cards must be carried to sign in and out of the Compass Kiosks, to borrow books from the library, to access printers/photocopiers around the school, and to purchase items at the canteen.  An ideal place to keep your card is in your laptop bag, student diary or pencil case.  Lost cards must be replaced: replacement cards can be ordered from Compass for $10.  If a student also requires an ID Card for public transport/concessions, it is useful to purchase a second card so that one permanently remains at school.

2021 TUTORING PROGRAM

The current government has looked at many different ways to support schools in the aftermath of 2020. One particularly exciting approach is their funding of a special tutoring program to help redress the disadvantages caused by remote learning. At Frankston High School, this funding has allowed us to employ six literacy tutors and six numeracy tutors. The aim is to provide support for 600+ students in Years 7 – 10 who have average to high results in English and Maths but have missed out on aspects of their learning during 2020.

The program has been designed in conjunction with the English and Maths faculties to complement their curriculum. Students will be rotated through the program so we can reach as many students as possible, each having two sessions per week. Our tutors are very experienced and well skilled so we feel quite fortunate to offer students such expert assistance. Unfortunately, this program will only be funded for one year, so our goal is to make the most of it in 2021.

MATHS MAGICIANS

All VCE Mathematics students are invited to attend any of the scheduled Maths help sessions that are available each week. Students can attend for a range of reasons: To get some help with homework, catch up on missed work, get ahead in the current topic, look back over difficult tests/SACs, SAC or Exam preparation etc. We hope to see many students attending each week!

WORK EXPERIENCE

YEAR 10

21-25 June 2021

REMINDER - The due date for all Work Experience Arrangement and Work Experience Travel Arrangement forms has been extended to THURSDAY 25 MARCH.

If you are having difficulty in finding an employer, please see me in the WEXP Office (inside the JRC) as soon as possible.

During the first two weeks of Term 2 the students will be doing their OH&S General and Industry module testing and students need to be aware of which industry they will be working in to complete this part of the testing.

Students, who require their White Card to attend their trade placement, will be doing their White Card course on Friday 21May. More information regarding this will be given to those students closer to that time.

If you have a placement and the employer asks when they will be receiving their signed copies of documents, please let them know these will be sent out at the end of May or early June.

STUDENTS DRIVING TO SCHOOL

Any student of legal driving age who intends to drive to school, either on a regular basis or occasionally, must comply with the school requirements and is required to complete the Parent Permission and Student Agreement Form.  These forms are attached below and also available from the Senior Office.

SCHOOL DROP OFF AND PICK UP

As we are all aware, we have very limited parking in the Frankston High School grounds for parents picking up their children at the end of the school day.  If you organise to meet your children in the drop off zone and they are not waiting for you when you arrive, please do not block the passage of cars trying to get through.  If all of the unofficial spaces to the sides of the drop off zone are occupied when you arrive, please continue through the centre of the drop off zone, turn left out of the school into Foot Street, proceed down to the roundabout at Baileyana Street and then do a loop back up and around the Towerhill Road roundabout and back into the drop off zone.

Our preference has always been for parents to park in one of the side streets surrounding the school and wait for children to come to you.  Thank you very much to the many parents who already do this.

It is much safer for students to be dropped off to school at the gate of Baileyana Street and then for them to walk across the oval.

Also, a reminder, face masks are mandatory on public transport.

We thank you for your cooperation.

CROSSING THE ROAD

REMINDER TO BUS TRAVELLERS

All students who travel to and from school via the public buses are reminded to only use the black and white ‘zebra crossings’ on Towerhill Road and Foot Street to get to and from bus stops, before and after school.

Traffic is extremely congested on the streets before and after school.  It is not safe for students to cross the roads anywhere but the zebra crossings at any time, but especially before and after school.  Parents are asked to discuss with their children, the importance of this matter.
