Kick-starting 2019

Welcome back

Welcome back! We hope you are well rested and are looking forward to a fun and productive 2019. Teachers return on Tuesday for two days of professional learning and collaborative planning, and many have been working to prepare throughout last week and earlier.  We eagerly await the buzz of students returning - the buildings seem vast and empty without them!

This is a mini-edition of the newsletter to help you prepare for the school year. Look out for our  first full edition for 2019 in Week 2.

Some changes for 2019

A reminder that there are changes to the uniform and the bell times for 2019. Please see the articles in this newsletter for the details of these changes.

2018 Year 12 results and pathways

We were very proud of the achievements of our 2018 Year 12 cohort, both in their excellent results and in their co-curricular and personal endeavours. The first round of tertiary offers were released recently, and we are thrilled to report that over 90% of students received their first preference, in courses ranging from Architecture to Biomedicine, Engineering to Education and Beauty Therapy to International Relations. We will bring you more details in the next newsletter.

Building Northcote

Great progress has been made on the Performing Arts building over the break - make sure you take a look when you are up at the school! We have also had some of our older, one-story portable classrooms (near the oval) replaced with another 'Mod-10' double-story building. These rooms are a vast improvement on the previous learning spaces: lighter, more flexible and more modern.  A new locker bay is also being installed in that area.
