From the Principal
Week 2 Term 2 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians
5/6 Camp
What a brilliant 3 days of fun and adventures our Yr 5/6 students were involved in last week at camp. The weather could not have been more perfect, and the diverse range of activities ensured the children were suitably challenged. The 18 metre giant swing allowed everyone to go as high or as low as they wanted whilst the crate stack demonstrated the children's ability to hold their balance whilst `dangling' from a harness 5 metres high. This was combined with an initiative course, that could only be completed if the whole group worked together, as well as wildlife encounters, that included turtles, stick insects, a snake and frogs.
I would like to thank the staff that attended for their 24 hour supervision of the students. It's a big undertaking but one they do happily.
Mothers Day
Stall
Today the students had the opportunity to buy a small gift for their mother for Mother's Day. Thank you to the parents who helped make this opportunity happen for the students. It is greatly appreciated by our community
Dinner
To those mothers attending tonight's dinner I hope it is a great night for all.
And to all the mothers/grandmother/special persons in our community I hope Sunday is a special day for you.
Enrolments
If there is a sibling who will be commencing in Prep next year can you please ensure you have complete an enrolment form by Friday 14th May. It is important we know how many siblings we have before offering other positions.
Classrooms helpers
Just a reminder that our classroom helpers course will be held tomorrow in the Jarrow room. It commences at 9.00 am. If you wish to help in the classroom it is important that you attend this session. It will be great to have parents back in the classrooms assisting.
Staff Professional learning
Friday the 21st of May is a professional learning day for staff. It is a pupil free day.
St Bede's Feast Day
On the 25th May our school community will be celebrating St Bede's Day. More information will be provided in the coming week as we are just finalising arrangements. Last year was our 75 years of Education at St Bede's, but due to COVID we could not fully celebrate it, so we will take the opportunity to celebrate it at this years St Bede's Day. Further information will be provided shortly.
Naplan testing
Next week Naplan testing for our Yr 3 and 5 Students will commence. The National assessment program in Literacy and Numeracy will see these students complete a series of tests that will take a snapshot of their ability in writing, reading, spelling, grammar and mathematics As previously mentioned in newsletters I ask that you ensure all children are at school ready to commence learning at 8.45pm, ( times and days can be found in the deputy principals page).
ECSI - Enhancing Catholic School Identity (ECSI) Survey
St Bede's Primary school will be under review in 2022. As part of the review process staff, students (Yrs 5/6) and parents are requested to complete the ECSI survey. The more parents who complete the survey the more accurate feedback we will receive. I ask that you read the instructions under the ECSI Survey page of this newsletter and set aside an hour to complete the survey. Thank you for your cooperation.
Uniform
This week has been our first full week of our winter uniform. It is wonderful the majority of students are in the full correct uniform whilst those who are not, have supplied a written reason stating why they are out uniform. I understand some parents are still waiting on supplies from Bob Stewart to arrive. Please ensure all sports socks are at least ankle high ( not the invisible ones) and do not have any logos on them.
To all the mothers, enjoy Sunday
Have a great week
Brian
