Co-curricular - Junior Sport
I would like to start off by thanking all the boys for their excellent efforts at last week’s Winter sport trials. Unfortunately, due to the short turnaround from summer to winter and the poor weather of late, we have only been able to give the Junior School boys one trial. The teams that have been selected are for Round 1 only and boys will have the first three rounds as an additional trial period. Teams will be finalised after this time. I encourage all boys to work hard at training and in games to show the coaches just what they are capable of. All boys selected into a team will need to have their playing uniform purchased before the commencement of Round 1 on Saturday 24 April. These items can be purchased from the Uniform Shop.
As for draws and training for Winter sport, all information will be available on Team App. The draft draw is available for viewing. Please keep in mind that this is a draft and that the weekly fixtures’ page needs to be viewed each week for the most up to date information on fixture venues and times. All Winter sports will train on the first Monday of Term 2, 19 April (first day back) from 3.10pm to 4.45pm. A full training schedule will be placed on Team App once all coaches are finalised. Boys will require their boots for training as well as mouthguards, head gear (optional) and shinpads for their respective sports. Boys are encouraged to wear their own gear for training, especially for rugby (a jersey from home is preferable). No boy is to train in their Saturday playing uniform.
Boys in the 11’s football will train at Airey Park, Francis St Strathfield. Boys will be walked down by staff and coaches. Boys should wear their runners to the oval and change into their boots down there. Parents may pick up their sons directly from Airey Park at 4.30pm, otherwise they can be collected from the College at 4.45pm. Coaches and Staff will not wait at Airey Park and will take any boy not picked up at 4.30pm back to the College. All other age groups and sports will train at the College.
I have had a few questions from the boys who played basketball this term about their singlets. All basketballers should keep their singlet until the end of the season in Term 4. I will then ask for their return.
Lenten fund raising for the Junior School will end on Wednesday 31 March. No more funds will be able to be raised after this date. No cash will be accepted at the College, so all cash donations will need to be converted to electronic donations before Wednesday. I will place the total amount raised by the Junior School in the Especean in Term 2. Once again, it is looking like another great total raised by the Junior School boys. Over the holiday period, boys will need to access their profiles to order their prize. There is strictly only one prize to be ordered by each student, so choose wisely. Anyone ordering more than one prize will have the additional prizes removed by me and it may mean boys miss out on the prize they really wanted.
