Congratulations
The rescheduled RHBL Baseball Grand Finals took place last Saturday 27 March. Well done to the U16 Baseball team who remained undefeated and won their final match 9 runs to 5. According to coach Mr De Meio, “grand final day was probably the best the team has played all season”.
With all odds stacked up against them, the 14 Gold team came away with a Premiership win in a nail-bitter finish. The 14 Golds won 9 runs to 8 in what has been described as the best match played by a SPC team ever.
Congratulations to both teams, coaches, and Mrs Warsop on the fantastic Baseball season.
Black and Green Shield
Last Saturday saw some of our Rugby and Football teams, along with the First IV Tennis, contest the Black and Green Shield for 2021. Whilst it is unfortunate that not all winter teams could play a role in gaining points for the Shield this year, it proved to be a very competitive day across all fixtures played. For the first time since its inception in 2004, the Black and Green Shield has ended in a tie (9 – 9 and two draws). The Shield will be shared between the two schools this year, firstly residing in the College vestibule for six months before Trinity Grammar School takes hold of it until we play again this time next year.
Well done to all teams who were involved.
Winter Sport – Term 2
I remind parents and students to download for free the SPC Sport Team App. From next week, you will be able to view all Winter sports’ training schedules for the remainder of the Winter season under the “Documents” tab.
Over the holiday period, I will be working on the draft draws for the Winter season to provide families with notice of fixtures in advance. In line with this, I wish to inform you that upon the commencement of Term 2, parents and boys will have access to view these draws via Team App and the College website.
In the meantime, you will now be able to view the Summer season End of Season Reports for Cricket, Basketball and Baseball through Team App under the Newsletter tab. If you wish to download and keep a copy, this can be done by synching into your Team App account via computer, accessing this link: https://www.teamapp.com/.
Good Luck!
On behalf of the College community, I take this opportunity to wish the 1st XI Football all the best for their fixture against Sydney Grammar, as well as the Inner West Tri-Series Football tournament, both events they will be competing in during the holidays.
Best of luck to the 1st XV, 2nd XV Rugby teams who will travel to Canberra to play Marist College, and the Rugby fraternity who will also play several traditional fixtures against Knox Grammar on Saturday 17 April.

SPC Baseball Premiers 2021
It is with great pleasure that I extend my congratulations to the U16 and 14 Gold Baseball teams for their Grand Final success last Saturday. After the rain postponed the games, we prayed for sunshine. The U16 team made it as minor premiers and had the season confidence on their side. Stepping up and having their best game of the season, the final outcome saw the U16 team demolish the Stealers Knox team with a score of 9-5. The 14 Gold underdogs, made up mostly of baseball rookies, went up to Hornsby to battle it out with the undefeated Rangers team. An unbelievably exciting game of tense, hard-fought, nail-biting baseball ensued. Every player brought their A-game and it showed. When Chris Costa had to step onto the pitching mound to finish the game with very little pitching experience, the team rallied around him. They held off the Rangers’ onslaught with a level of grit and determination - often only seen in world championships - to take the premiership by one run! Congratulations to both teams and their coaches. Baseballers, you have worn your St Patrick’s College uniform proudly and you have let your light shine.
