SPC Battle of the Bands
The Performing Arts Faculty is very excited to launch the inaugural St Patrick’s College Battle of the Bands. We offer many musical experiences and opportunities at the College but none quite like this. This year we want to unearth our talented rock musicians in a new forum.
Battle of the Bands is open to all students who play an instrument. If you can play, you do not need to be an amazing musician, you just need enthusiasm - we have a team of people here to hone your stills and mentor you.
Dr Taylor is our new Ensemble Coordinator. He plays the drums as well as being an expert in vocals. Before joining us, he conducted for the Sydney Philharmonia Choir. Mr Heffernan has joined us this year in music and is a guitarist and songwriter. Both Mrs Ovijach and Ms Grape are experts in piano and vocals. Mr Lisetto will also be signing up to mentor and he also plays the saxophone. Ms Duff will be there to make sure your stage craft and performance skills are on point to impress the audience.
As well as this, we are bringing in professionals Tim Conlon and Pete Drummond to work with you and to join Mr Heffernan on the judging panel. Tim is a singer/songwriter from the Northern Beaches. He has played in professional bands since the age of 16, performing with singers such as Jimmy Barnes and has appeared as a contestant on The Voice, reaching the top 10. As a singer/songwriter, he has reached number four on the iTunes charts. As well as being a professional drummer for over 20 years, Pete also works for us at SPC and has being wanting to see a Battle of the Bands here for years. He is a member of iconic Australian rock band Dragon and plays with Thirsty Merc. In 2008 he was enlisted in the ARIA Hall of Fame.
The finals will be on Founder’s Day and we have some great prizes up for grabs. Once you have your band, use the link below to sign up before Sunday 18 April.

Theatre Club Act 2
Theatre in Sydney is back up and in full swing and Theatre Club has been fortunate enough to have already seen some amazing productions this year. Some Theatre companies have announced an Act 2 season and as thus, we will be adding extra shows to Theatre Club.
There may be an opportunity to purchase tickets to some shows that were already on Theatre Club as their capacity has increased. Theatre Club is open to the whole school community - whether you are an avid lover of theatre or have never been and are a little curious, we would love to have you join Theatre Club.
Theatre has always been about telling stories; stories that entertain and engage us, stories that hold up a mirror to society and show us the truth of the world. It is not always a beautiful truth, but there is beauty in the feeling that theatre gives us. We come together to hear and watch a moment spring to life on stage, and we can leave feeling hopeful and connected.
All the shows are booked in the evening to avoid taking students out of class and to also enable parents, carers, and families to attend. Parents are welcome to attend without their sons.
Bookings can be made using the online booking system on this link:
https://fs12.formsite.com/DGcTIp/dok1bpv07g/index.html
On the booking form, shows we cannot get more tickets for are marked Closed, plays that are already booked and we hope to get more tickets to are marked Expressions of Interest, and the two new shows are marked Expressions of Interest New Addition. Once numbers, dates and ticket availability are confirmed, you will be contacted to confirm your interest before the cost is added to your 2021 school account.
