Year 11 Assessment Block

The Year 11 Assessment Block will commence on Monday 19 April with Studies of Religion in the morning and English Advanced in the afternoon, and will conclude on Tuesday 27 April with Biology and Legal Studies. The assessments are quite varied in type, structure and format and include, but are not limited to, written responses to pre-published stimulus materials, oral presentations and practical examinations.

Parents and students of Year 11 are reminded that in the event of absenteeism due to illness or misadventure during the Assessment Block, to contact the Year Coordinator, Mr Newman, on the morning of the assessment. Where possible, the missed assessment or a substitute will be arranged within the Assessment Block period. On the student’s return to school, a medical certificate for the illness/misadventure must be given to Mr Newman and the relevant Faculty Leader.

Year 10 Academic Attainment Test

As per the College Calendar and Diary, the Academic Attainment Test for Year 10 (10AAT) is scheduled for Wednesday 28 April.

The purpose of the 10AAT is to provide the College with externally determined independent assessment data that will inform prospective Year 11 students and their parents making appropriate subject selection choices for the senior years of secondary schooling.

The 10AAT is administered by Academic Assessment Services, formerly Robert Allwell and Associates, who are nationally renowned independent consultants specialising in the assessment and analysis of educational performance and progress.

It is important to note that the data from the 10AAT will contribute significantly to subject selection recommendations for Year 11 in 2022, along with the results from the Year 9 examinations conducted in Term 4 of last year, the upcoming Year 10 examinations and the NESA HSC Minimum Standards Tests.

Updated Years 7 to 10 In-Class Test and Examination Rules

Rules governing in-class tests and block examinations have been updated and are now available on each respective Year Canvas page.

I encourage parents to read the rules together with their sons so there is no misunderstanding of the College’s expectations and standards in maintaining exemplary student conduct during assessment in-class tests and block examinations.
