Grade 5/6

Meet the team on Level 4, our alpine floor...

We proudly introduce our wonderful Grade 5/6 Team...

Miss Jo May (Team Leader) - Grade 5/6A

Hi! My name is Miss Jo and I am the Grade 5/6 Team Leader. I will be teaching Grade 5/6A this year.

Next year will be my fourth year teaching at SMPS. Before I worked at this wonderful school, I taught for five years in East London. I have taught different year groups in my career, from Prep to Grade 6!

After enjoying London city life, I moved to Australia in October 2018. I love travelling, exploring new places and learning new things. I also love trying new foods. In my spare time, I like to go to the beach or go hiking. I also read lots.

I have a passion for teaching English, especially writing. I love helping students discover the power of words and learn how they can use language creatively in their stories.

I also really like teaching Maths because I found it difficult when I was in primary school. Now I can use what I found tricky to help explain different concepts to students.

I am looking getting to know yourselves and your wonderful children this year.

Miss May Ou

Hi/你好! I'm Ms May (she/her) and I'm overjoyed to be joining the SMPS community in 2022 as a classroom teacher!

A bit about me: I've been a Melburnian my whole life but am also a proud second-generation Chinese Australian. I speak Mandarin and Cantonese, so if you can too, feel free to come say hi! If that's not within your skillset, lucky for you my English is even better!

In my spare time I love dancing, travelling, reading, and painting (watercolour, acrylic, oil, you name it). I am also passionate about helping the community and am currently the president of my local Rotaract club, where we organise events and fundraise for important causes. I have just completed a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Education at Monash University and am very excited to be starting my teaching journey at SMPS.

I am looking forward to meeting you all soon and seeing what wonderful things we can all accomplish together!
