Grade 3

Meet the team on Level 3, our rainforest floor...

We proudly introduce our wonderful Grade 3 Team for 2022:

Miss Ciona Cox (Team Leader) - Grade 3A

Hello wonderful SMPS community,

My name is Miss Ciona and I will be teaching 3A in 2022. This will be my 7th year in teaching but my first as Team Leader of Grade 3. I am really looking forward to getting know all the students and their families. There are so many exciting moments to come in Grade 3!

I grew up in Scotland with my mum, dad and two older brothers. As a child I spent most of my time outdoors exploring the Scottish countryside and all the picture-perfect landscapes it has to offer. Think castles, snow covered mountains and hoping to catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster. I began my teaching career in Scotland before moving to Melbourne in 2020. This will be my third year at South Melbourne Primary School.

Outside of school you can often find me painting, exploring the outdoors or sampling all the amazing food Melbourne has to offer. In 2021, my fiancé Harley and I bought a house in Seddon so there will also be lots of home renovations to keep me busy.

I am really looking forward to another fantastic year at SMPS.

Miss Steph Lord - Grade 3B

Hello South Melbourne Primary School families!

My name is Stephanie and I will be teaching Grade 3B next year. This will be my second year at SMPS. I have learned a lot about being a teacher this year and I am thrilled to teach Grade 3 again!

I was born in Melbourne and grew up with two older brothers. My mother was born in the Philippines making me half-Filipino, half Irish-Australian. I have lived in the Western suburbs of Melbourne for most of my life, but moved right into the city at the start of this year. I will be moving to Docklands next year and I am very excited to live by the water. My favourite subject to teach is Writing. Ever since I was little, I have always loved writing my own stories and poems. I also enjoy collecting houseplants, playing video games and board games, reading, drawing, playing piano, tennis, badminton, and going for long runs. I am a huge softie for animals and hope to own a dog one day.

I can’t wait to spend another fun year at SMPS with the best students and families in the world!

Miss Megan Hartwick - Grade 3C

Hello SMPS students and families!

My name is Miss Megan and I will be teaching 3C in 2022. This will be my fifth year in teaching and my fourth year at SMPS. I taught the 2022 cohort of Grade 3’s back when they were little Grade 1’s in 2020, so I am so excited to work with them all again!

I grew up in Canada and did not move to Melbourne until 2017. I spent most of my childhood outside with my family, including camping or playing in the snow nearly every weekend and going on long hikes and canoe trips. Before I became a teacher, I worked at a Summer Camp for five years, which explains why I love organising and going on School Camp so much now as a teacher!

Outside of school, I love to spend time outside, read, and make music. I also love cooking, especially making recipes from my Italian heritage. In 2021, I adopted a greyhound named Emmy and I love taking her for walks in the city.

I am really looking forward to another amazing year at SMPS.
