Learning at home due to COVID related absence

This letter is to communicate the learning procedures, should your child/ren be affected by a COVID-related absence. In line with the State Government operational guidelines, OLA has developed a learning grid for students and families to access with additional resources and links.

If your child is unwell with COVID,

This is treated as any other illness related absence, i.e. students are not expected to complete learning at home while sick. The number one priority is the health and safety of the families involved, and we expect the main focus to be on rest and recovery.

If, however, your child is in isolation as a close contact, or has tested positive but is not experiencing any symptoms, they are welcome to complete the resources provided.

The learning grid includes learning activities for students from each year level. In addition, a range of online learning resources and games are also linked to support learning away from the classroom. All tasks in the learning grid can be completed using any paper, work books or stationary found around the home.

There is also an additional Learning From Home Booklet to support the remote learning for Prep - Grade 6. If you would like this booklet you could connect with another family to pick it up from the school office and deliver it to you or reach out to the school and together we can come up with another arrangement.

We will email this learning grid, resources and links through to families in the event that a child in your family becomes positive or is isolating.  Please continue to email the Principal when this happens principal@olacheltenham.catholic.edu.au

Upon your child/ren’s return to school we encourage them to share any work that they are proud of with their teacher/s and peers.

If you have any questions or require any additional support to access the learning, please contact Josy Reeder (Learning and Teaching Leader)  jreeder@olacheltenham.catholic.edu.au

We sincerely thank our families for their support.

Kind regards,

Richard, Caitlan, Josy & Christine
