School News

Marni Naa Pudni

It has been wonderful to have all our students back at school over the past two weeks. The transition has been very smooth and we have been able to resume our normal approach to teaching and learning. At this stage we have been very luck, and not been majorly impacted by COVID. Hopefully this continues.

At the end of this week DfE has advised that they will be lifting some of the current restrictions. Once we are fully aware of what they are and how they will impact the school we will email the community.  Exciting times!

Early Years Redevelopment

We attended the 2 weekly progress meeting last Friday and disappointingly, we have been advised that the project is now 8 weeks behind. This is due to a number of unforeseen circumstances related to COVID.  We are still waiting for a confirmation of a completion date but is now looking like being the end of this term. Hopefully ready for us to begin Term 2 in the new building.

On a positive note work has now begun to move quickly. Please see the updated photos. It is looking excellent!

Teaching and Learning Newsletters

Last Friday Teaching and Learning iNewsletters were distributed to families. These newsletters focus on the everyday operations of the school as well as an extensive outline of how we approach learning at LNPS. Newsletters will have more of a focus on 'how' students will learn and less on the 'what'.

Please use the links below to access the Semester 1 newsletters.

Parents/caregivers who would like further information regarding the content that is covered at each year level the ACARA website outlines the Australian Curriculum.

Goal Setting and Learning Conferences

One high impact strategy known to improve learning is personal goal setting.  When students have clarity regarding their next steps, learning is both accelerated and intensified.

Learning Conferences to support this approach are occurring with families and students during Weeks 6 and 7 of this term.

We have delayed our conferences by a week due to the staggered return to school. Conferences will occur via Video Conference at this stage due to DfE COVID directions.

Furthermore, with the cancellation of the Building Connections Community Night we have extended Learning Conferences to 20 minutes. The additional time is to enable a  'Meet and Greet' for teachers and parents.

Our Learning Conferences are  to co-construct goals with students and their families, and they will be guided by Approaches to Learning references and self-reflection. Discussion with families around Literacy and Numeracy goals will also occur, these goals will be developed over the coming weeks and shared by the end of Term 1. These goals will be ongoing, set in class by students and staff which and regularly reviewed and updated.

As per usual, if families have queries regarding their child’s learning at any stage of the year, they are invited to make contact with staff.

Bookings for the meetings will be available via the Sentral Parent Portal. The portal will be open for bookings from Monday 28th February at 9am until 5pm Friday 4th March. If you are having any issues, please contact Vanessa in the office.
