Kings Park Campus Principal Message

Kings Park Campus Principal Report

Welcome Back!

We had a morning tea to welcome our new Campus Leaders Tamara and Heath and farewell Brad Rankin. Our new Campus Leaders bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, Tamara from Sydneham campus and Heath from Sunbury College. They have had an immediate positive impact on staff and students and this will only grow as we get to know them more throughout the year.

Welcome to our new Team Leaders Tara Causer (L), Tina Tsaloukas (D and Natascha Moody (T) who join our C Team Leader Nick Taseski. They will be doing their best over the coming weeks to get to know students and families.

We also have a number of other new faces around our campus, namely Michael Horn (Numeracy/ Mathematics Leading Teacher), Maths /Science teachers, Emily Elliot, Jim Molivas and Trinh Nguyen, English/ Humanities teacher Mary Karaoglanidis, Literacy Teacher Xanthi Stavrakas, EAL Teacher Jesse Duerkop, Office Staff member Sabina Sarsero and Tutors, Adem Cancar, Tina Tran, Patrick Ilardi and Cassidy McDonald. We look forward to your contributions to Kings Park Campus.

Assemblies

Wednesday Feb 16: Year 7 & 8 Period 1, Year 9 & 10 Period 2

It was fantastic to see all the students attentively joining in these events. Thank you to Mr Goundar for helping the student leaders manage the assemblies and a special thanks to our talented performers, Nathan, Winship , Gloria  and Jennifer , who were ably assisted by Mr Allen.

Congratulations to students from each homegroup who received RRR awards since they have already impressed their teachers that their behaviour exemplified our SWPBS values of Respect, Responsibility and Valuing Relationships.

Student Diaries and Locker Locks

All students have been provided with both a diary and a lock for their locker this year. The diary has been an under-utilised learning tool that we hope to see become part of the teaching and learning routines of students and teachers now that every student has been provided with one. Providing each student with a  lock will mean that every student can leave their personal belongings such as phones  in a secure place throughout the day.

Extra Curricular Activities

We have a number of activities for students to elect to be involved in this year: Creative Writing Club, Robotics Club and Weights Room.

Thank you to those teachers organising these activities and we look forward to more being organised.

Also Year 9s and 10s students will have volleyball and tennis teams to join in with this term as well as others, while Year 7s and 8s will have soccer.

Swimming Sports

Thanks to all the organisers and facilitators, and congratulations to all the students who competed. It was really good to see the students keenly participating after a few years of not being able to run large events. We look forward to the Athletics Carnival on March 21.

Year 10 RMIT Experience

All year 10 students were welcomed to RMIT this term. The students gained a lot from the experience, getting ideas for careers and experiencing a university environment. RMIT is our most popular pathway destination for Copperfield students. Thanks to those who organised and supervised these excursions.

The Year 9 Morrisby Career Program

The profiling sessions on day 1 were almost fully attended by the year 9 students. We are welcoming our consultants (via Webex) for their individual session from February 21.

Home Group Teacher Meet and Greets

Monday, 7 March 3:30 - 4:30

Thank you for your input into how we can make this event successful and improve our engagement with our families. Please keep your ideas coming to team and campus leaders. We will publish more information about the logistics closer to the event.

Regards
