COVID-19 INFORMATION

Rapid Antigen Test Distribution

Families would have recently received their Rapid Antigen Tests. Distribution is limited to one pack per student. Where children live in more than one household, families are asked to ensure the tests are shared across both households.  The second delivery of tests is anticipated next week.  Information on collection will be communicated home as soon as practical after receipt.

Surveillance Testing

Delivery #1 contained a box of 5 tests per student. The suggested testing was for twice per week, meaning this allocation is sufficient until Wednesday 16th February, depending on the days of the week you are choosing to test.

Students who have tested positive for COVID-19, have completed their 7-day isolation period and are subsequently asymptomatic do not need to undertake surveillance testing for 30 days.

Students Who Test Positive

If your child tests positive, please advise the school as soon as possible (24 hours a day) via covid@bhcs.vic.edu.au with the day that they tested positive. They will need to isolate for 7 days. Your child will not be required to get a follow up PCR test.

Positive results should also be reported via coronavirus.vic.gov.au/report or by calling 1800 675 398. Reporting your result ensures that support can be provided to you.

Negative test do not need to be reported.

VCAL AT BHCS

We are so excited to again have record numbers of students undertaking VCAL in 2022.  This involves them studying at school and also completing VET training each Wednesday.  Additionally, as a part of their VCAL studies, they will complete two fortnight-long Structured Work Placements in the industry they are studying. These are similar to Work Experience and will take place in May/June and August/September.

This year, we have students embarking on Certificate level courses in a variety of areas: Automotive, Beauty, Building/Carpentry, Sport and Recreation, Media, Community Services, Business, Electrical, Sound Production, Early Childhood Education, and Kitchen Operations.

CAN YOU HELP?

We are looking for Structured Work Placements for our students. If you have a contact that we can follow up with or are yourself able to take on a Year 11 or 12 VCAL student for a fortnight block (10 days), we would love to hear from you.  Our students are eager to learn and expand their knowledge in their chosen fields. This is a great opportunity for both our students and businesses that are willing to host them.

Please contact Andrew Ware, VCAL & VET Coordinator via aware@bhcs.vic.edu.au

COMING UP! BOOM DAY - FEB 24

CAR PARK NEWS

Firstly, a big thank you from our traffic management team to everyone who has been taking the opportunity to demonstrate patience and courtesy as we re-adjust back toward ‘normal’ conditions.  It’s so good having everyone back at school, which, of course, also means we are back to having a full car park.

As we do our best to improve traffic-flow, can we ask for your cooperation in the  following areas :

  • Move as far along the pick-up/drop-off zone as possible to minimise gaps and allow space for buses to turn.
  • Consider parking in a designated spot if you are picking up secondary students.  There are usually many places available after 3:15 p.m. and using these will minimise the number of vehicles banking up, blocking Mt. Morton Road, and help us keep our neighbours happy.
  • If you are dropping off or picking up primary students, please do not cross the road in front of the buses, use the appropriate crossing (see picture below) .
