FIRST DAYS OF KINDER

By Kirsty Meese (Kinder Director)

First days of Kinder are always an exciting time for Kinder children, Kinder families and Kinder Teachers.

Three Year Old Kinder

In three year old Kinder the Kinder children have been getting to know their teachers Mrs Bart, Mrs Esmore and Mrs Sweeney (who is joining us for first term as part of School Readiness Funding) exploring the kinder environment, adjusting to a new routine, becoming involved in new experiences and meeting other kinder friends!

Four Year Old Kinder

Our first week of four year old Kinder has been a wonderful time to get to know the Kinder children in smaller groups. This slow start offers the Kinder children opportunities for children to get to know their new teachers, find new friends and learn the rhythms and routines of Kinder. One of the highlights during the first week of four year old Kinder has been to go on an "adventure" around the school grounds. For many children this can be a little daunting to leave the safety of Kinder where your parents have been dropped off, but the Kinder children took it all in their stride. On our adventures we explored parts of the school that we'd never seen before, which led to some interesting discoveries, we saw artwork of large fish, we found a barbeque, we peered in a window and saw a broken car, and on Friday we were intrigued to hear some strange noises from one of the classrooms and were pleasantly surprised to meet Mr Thompson, who could play a saxophone, a trumpet and a trombone!!!!

Our first week of Kinder has also involved celebrating our first Kinder birthday via zoom, watching the teachers versus the students in the BHCS Big Bash, meeting the library teachers when the library came to visit us in Kinder and finding a surprise guest (a dragonfly) on our mat who wanted to join us for group time.

If that was only week one, we can't wait to see what the rest of 2022 offers us this year!!

The Big Bash - 2022

Our annual tradition of Staff vs Year 12's cricket match gave us a vibrant end to our first week of school. Despite their best efforts, our Year 12s could not meet the skill and determination of the staff team! New Principal, Peter Cliffe, passed this important initiation with flying colours, showing us that he knew what to do with a bat and ball!

Congratulations to Rachel C and Olivia E, two of our talented VCE Studio Arts Students from 2021 who have been selected to exhibit their artworks at CREATIVE SHOWCASE, at The Memo in Healesville.

Every year, Yarra Ranges Council recognises the importance of celebrating and showcasing the achievements of our region’s young people and in partnership with Burrinja Cultural Centre, celebrate the talents of graduating students from across the Yarra Ranges.

Unfortunately, due to Covidsafe protocols, this is an invite only exhibition, but please view the exhibited Artworks below.
