FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS

iPad Information

This year we have set up an online portal through JB Hifi so that families can purchase iPads and accessories for students at a discounted educational price.  To access the portal simply visit the following link http://bit.ly/2AyvNBz

You will be directed to the JB Hifi purchasing portal which looks like the screenshot below.

Enter the school code RNPS2019

This will give you access to navigate the portal where you can compare & purchase iPad models and accessories as well as select a preferred store for pick up.

Positive Education community information night

We are really looking forward to presenting and talking about Positive Education at Ringwood North Primary School on Wednesday 27th of March. At this information sharing session, you will hear about what PosEd is, what we have been working on as a school, why we think it is so awesome and most importantly, how it can benefit the students and families of RNPS. We have some great things planned over the coming months, and we are excited to have the community be part of it! Please note this evening in your diaries, and we hope to see as many of you as possible there!

NAPLAN

It’s hard to believe that we are already talking about NAPLAN, but there are some important dates we would like you to be aware of. This year, the year 3 and 5 students will be completing their NAPLAN assessments online. Year 5s will use their own iPads, wile year 3s will use the school devices. The year 3s will still complete their writing assessment on paper, but all other assessments will be completed online. In a few weeks time, we will be completing a School Readiness Test under NAPLAN conditions for us to check our system works, and also for the administrators of NAPLAN to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the official test days. If your child is in year 3 or 5, you will receive a Compass notification alerting you to when these mock tests will be (no data is gathered from these trials, it’s simply to check the system works).

The NAPLAN test window runs from 14-24th of May with schools having more flexibility as to when students sit the assessments.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the leadership team.

Child Safe Standards

If you happen to sign in at the office using the iPad, you will notice that you have to acknowledge and agree to abide by the school’s Child Safe code of conduct. Some people may agree to this, and not necessarily know what it means. Child Safe standards are in place in all schools and organisations that work with children to ensure safety and wellbeing, and promote an organisational culture that manages and minimises the risk of child abuse and neglect. If you would like further information about what these standards are, you can find the child safe policy on the brand new school website, or at https://providers.dhhs.vic.gov.au/child-safe-standards
