School Council Elections

On Monday, nominations will open for parents to take up a spot on School Council. I strongly encourage parents who wish to contribute to the school to consider undertaking this role. No special skills or knowledge are required. The council meets 8 times a year + an end of year dinner. It's a great way to get to know a different side of the school and influence some of what happens in the background.

Nomination forms will be available from the front desk and distributed through Compass on Monday.

I wish to thank on behalf of the current council the contributions of outgoing members: Sharinne Crawford, Penny Clarke, Julie Castieau, Craig Bentley and Michele Whitby.

Upcoming Events

Today we are announcing a couple of really exciting events for students: the Run4Fun Colour Explosion fundraising event on Wednesday March 6 and our School Production dates have been confirmed for August 12, 13, 14 and 15. We are thrilled to find a really suitable location for our production, The Whitehorse Centre in Nunawading, after being informed that our previous theatre would not be available due to renovations.

The production script for Year 5 and 6 auditions has been distributed today to students and families with further roles for other students to be auditioned in the coming weeks. I am excited to be part of my first major production at RNPS and am eager to see all the talented students we have get up there and give it their all.

At assembly today the production was revealed to be the stupendous, hilarious, extraordinary 'Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies', so dust off your green tights, stick a feather in your hat and get ready for a side-splitting show with a cast of talented and courageous legends.

Fundraising and facilities

This week Mr Burley, Mrs Mann and I have been visiting classrooms and working through a range of activities with students to understand how they use our outside facilities and what they would love to see be added or changed. We have learnt so much from these sessions, getting some insight into the types of things that encourage and discourage students from playing in certain areas. Following this we will be developing a list of outside projects to complete to improve our play spaces and play options for students over the coming months and years. It's an exciting time and the students have been doing such a good job of telling us exactly how they feel (was there any doubt they would?)

After such wonderful efforts from families in supporting the school's fundraising efforts, it will be great to see some of those achievements from last year's fete and other activities, turn into tangible things that benefit your children every day. Your support for activities such as the upcoming 'Run4Fun Colour Explosion' will contribute to these projects, while also giving the students a super fun and memorable day.

New Website

Our updated website is finally live. Thank you to all the families and students who have agreed to us using images of students' faces, I believe it has helped us capture a really great overview of how the school looks and works.

While the website is primarily for prospective families and most of our current family information is on Compass, you will find a few useful links (such as the uniform shop and canteen menu) along with an index of school policies for you to view.

Parenting Ideas Articles

Resilience and the capacity to cope with the challenges life throws at us is always a hot topic for parents. The following article discusses 5 key ideas for trying to build a resilient mindset in ourselves as well as our children. It is amazing how closely children's reactions can mimic what they see in their parents, the good, the bad and the different.
