Principal's Update

February - What a busy month

What a busy term we have had so far. Our Year 7 students have settled in and are well and truly part of our community. They have been extremely busy with their swimming trials and many participated in the swimming carnival at the Pines pool. Their transition day was followed by the ‘Meet n Greet’ evening where many parents met the classroom teachers of Year 7 students.

Twenty Year 8 students participated in ‘Have a Say Day’. This is an opportunity for students to speak to the Principal team so we can learn from each other.

Photos of all students at all year levels have been taken and they will soon be available to families.

Sporting squads have begun and many students are at school very early in the morning participating. A reminder to those and others wishing to have breakfast at school, they can do so, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the canteen.

During this week Year 9 students have participated in a Reptile incursion for Science as they are currently studying Ecosystems and Energy Flows. The BHP students have set up camp in Lorne, and have learnt how to surf.

Year 10 Outdoor Education students have attended a three day camp at Phillip Island, whilst Year 11 and 12 students listened to ‘Elevate’ to develop good study habits.

Open night saw the school shine. More than 300 visitors toured the College and stopped to view student work and/or listen to staff talk about their subject areas. It was a fantastic event. The Mt Martha Lions club cooked sausages for our hungry visitors and tea and coffee was also available with music playing in the background.

The Athletics carnival will be held at the Ballam Park Athletics Track on Monday.  If parents/families wish to join us, they are welcome to observe the events. Please sign in at the entrance.  Unfortunately no photos are allowed.
