Leadership Report

Staffing

We are pleased to announce the commencement in Term 4 of new staff member Victoria Brennan. She will head the Art Department and teach art from Grade 4 up to Year 7 as well as F – 3 Drama and our Year 8 – 10 Art based electives. Welcome Victoria!!

Victoria will be replacing Sarah Domaschenz who is stepping back to a casual role of CRT teaching with us.

A big thanks to Sarah for her role at the college and we look forward to your future work as a CRT teacher with us.

Simone Bruce is leaving the college to work in Melbourne at the end of the term, so we wish her well for her future employment.

A big thanks to Cassie Stringer, Leonie Lang, Matt Cooper, Vanessa Eastwood and Kellie Jude for stepping in and helping with teaching and support work within the school. All staff in the college have pitched in over the last term, but these previous mentioned teachers/ES staff have committed and done extra work for the college and our students, so a big thanks for all you've done.

Varlin Duncan is back on deck and aren’t the students happy to see him!!! And staff even more. Varlin has made lots of inroads into our IT area and has our system running well. It’s a testament to him that he was gone for 4 months and that we had no major setbacks in that time.

We wish the Neall family a fantastic trip to Europe for all of Term 4 and Christmas and look forward to the whole family returning and starting the 2020 school year on day one

Student Engagement

F – 2 had their Overnight Stay last week. A big thank you to all staff who assisted with it, and also to parents who donated their time during the event. Thanks to the Advance students who helped and stayed overnight.

The Year 11 and 12 Psychology/PE trip to Melbourne went well. Thanks again to staff who put themselves forward to help on this trip. There was one miscalculation on the agenda and the PE students missed their VO2 Victoria University Lung Capacity Test. Mr Clissold will be touching base with families involved and the school will reimburse the cost for that component of the trip.

Students are engaging well with the SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behavioural Support) program. Teachers/staff are always looking for students who model being Respectful, Willing to Learn and being Safe. An area I have concentrated on is student’s lockers, and I’m pleased to say there has been a marked improvement with general tidiness in all senior locker bays. I go around every morning and check different lockers, recording the locker numbers I visit. I leave a ‘Rooward’ in student lockers if they are tidy and 4 out of 5 are receiving one.

Policy/Procedure

Just a second reminder to all who come to the College: Edenhope College’s Visitor Policy states that at drop off and pick up times registered parents/guardians do not need to sign in at the front office. It does however, state that all other visits within the school after drop off and before pick up times need to follow college protocol of attending the Front Office. This is in line with Edenhope College being a Child Safe School.

In Term 4 there will be a small change in Mobile Phone Procedure at Edenhope College. All students will be asked to put their phones in a tub upon entering the classroom. Students can retrieve their phones at the end of the lesson. In 2020 the Victorian Government is banning mobile phones in classrooms and the school yard. Phones can be left home or locked in lockers in 2020.

Wellbeing

The Wellbeing team has put in place a 'Man Cave' workshop for boys at the College and is looking to compliment that with a program for girls as well. More information to follow.

Continued thanks to all in the Edenhope College school community for ongoing commitment to your children and our students. Enjoy the holiday break!
