Year 12 Certificate II Outdoor Recreation students in Kalbarri

From the Deputy Principal Pastoral Care, Nick Jones

At the end of a very busy semester, I know that staff and students are looking forward to a well-deserved break. Holidays are an important time for students and families to relax, recharge and rejuvenate.  As our lives become busier and more hectic, we can sometimes lose the ability to simply switch off and allow our bodies and minds time to relax. Smartphone technology allows us to be connected to the outside world every minute of the day and night. I encourage families to implement some technology or screen free days during the holiday period. For our own well-being, we must become disciplined enough to disconnect from the online world and allow ourselves the time and space to genuinely relax.

During the Colours Assembly this week, we recognised many secondary students who have enjoyed success in a range of activities this term, including; Inter-House and Inter-School Cross Country, Inter-School Equestrian and Inter-House Debating and Chess. I would like to thank our students for their energy and drive during Term 2. They have involved themselves fully into the life of the School and participated in a large number of co-curricular events and activities.

Term 3 will be another busy term. We look forward to:

  • The Wollaston Dash
  • Inter-House Athletics Carnival
  • Founders’ Day
  • The House Eisteddford
  • The House Shout

Families are reminded that they are most welcome to attend these events.

Finally, I do request your support in ensuring that all students are well-presented as they arrive at school for the start of Term 3. The winter uniform should be clean and tidy, school shoes polished and hairstyles neat and appropriate.

I wish all students, staff and families a restful and enjoyable mid-year break.

All the best.

Nick Jones

Deputy Principal Pastoral Care

Inter-House Athletics Carnival

Due to unforeseen circumstances at the City of Canning, we have had to move our Secondary Inter-House Athletics Carnival from Tuesday 14 August to Wednesday 15 August. Please note this change in your diary; it has been reflected on the 2018 calendar in SEQTA.
