Remembrance Day
Along with many others around the world, today the College paused at 11am to mark a minute of silence for Remembrance Day. This formed part of our annual Remembrance Day service.
This service was the initiative of our Secondary student leaders back in 2020, so it has been wonderful to be able to celebrate this in person for the first time this year.
In preparation, our Junior Primary students have been helping us to decorate our cross with poppies - a symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. This has been an opportunity to help our littlest College members remember, and begin to understand the sacrifices that have been made for us over many years.
We are so thankful at Lakeside College for those who have served our nation through the armed forces.
As we follow Jesus, the Prince of Peace, we pray that we would see peace in this world. Lest we forget.
Term 4 - a busy term!
The final term of school is always a busy one in the ministry life of the school. We have already enjoyed celebrating at our Year 12 students’ Graduation service earlier this term, and are looking forward to our Thanksgiving service and celebrating Christmas through our chapel services and some special end of year events.
This busy-ness is not unique to us – term four is filled with many wonderful events, which can make life rich but frantic, particularly as we draw closer to Christmas time. The irony is that we can be so busy at Christmas, that we do not make time to celebrate Jesus – the one whom Christmas is actually all about! If you would like to chat about ideas for how you can include Jesus in your celebration of Christmas this year, we would love to chat with you.
Please feel free to get in touch with Pastor Eugene or Chaplain Fiona.
