Literacy/Ed. in Faith

Students have been reading about how people react to an identified injustice, by focusing initially on the Franklin River protests from the early 80s. They have looked at who was in power and what they wanted to do, along with who saw this as an issue that needed to be opposed. Students have been invited to research other prominent people who have or are fighting against injustices that are prevalent in our society.

They are also making connections to Jesus and the injustices he fought against. Recognising who was in power at the time and who was the victim of injustice that Jesus drew attention to, and what happened as a consequence.

Maths

In maths we've been looking at patterns and algebra, understanding how mathematicians can describe patterns using numbers and symbols. Students have begun to make sense of the connection between multiplication and division (they are connected by being the 'reverse' of one another) and the order of operations has been explored when students investigated how to work backwards to solve a problem.

Lightning Premiership

Last week, Grade 6 students attended Robinson's Park to compete against 7 other local schools in a modified game of cricket. We had both a boys and girls team that acquitted themselves well, learning more about the game and improving their skills throughout the day. Each team came away with a win, a draw and a few losses, but most of all a fun day was had by all.
