Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 4 - Week 6

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

I hope you are enjoying this current run of warm, sunny days. Blue skies, drier ground and sunshine certainly lift the spirits.

Asthma and Hay Fever Alert

Please be aware that our state health authorities have warned of an increased risk of asthma and hayfever due to the growth of grasses and pollen. If your child/children has asthma or hay fever, please ensure that their asthma plan is up to date and they have their Ventolin inhalers with them.

If you wish for your child to be administered their own hayfever medication at school when required, please contact the office and ask for a medication authority form, which will need to be signed by a GP,  and ensure we have some of the medication readily available at school.

Election Day BBQ @ S.F.X

On Saturday 26th November, our school is being used as a voting centre for the upcoming State Election. The amazing Friends of S.F.X group have organised to run a barbeque on the day, which will fundraise for the school.

We are hoping that our families may consider donating any of the following items which would be used/sold on the day;

- Serviettes

- Tomato Sauce/ BBQ Sauce/ American Mustard

- Cans of Coke

- Cans of Diet Coke

- Cans of Fanta

- Cans of Kirks Lemon Squash

Thank you so much for your consideration.

I would encourage everybody who isn't already to follow the Friends of S.F.X page on Facebook Page. The team provide regular updates on this page about upcoming school events and also ask for helpers when required.

Prep Orientations

This morning we welcomed our 2023 Prep class in for the third of their 4 Orientation sessions. It has been wonderful to see the connections that this group are already starting to make. Miss Melissa ran a Literacy session, talking to our new families about the Literacy program at school and how they can best support their children at home. Miss Erin will do a similar session next Thursday, only with a mathematics focus.

Playground Update

We are getting closer by the day!

The new junior playground is now less than two weeks from being completed. Next week the finishing touches including the slide, monkey bars and climbing wall will start to be attached. We are also expecting the poles for the new shade sails, which will cover the area behing the Grade 3-6 classrooms, to be installed next week.

Remembrance Day

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. Remembrance Day falls on the 11th of November each year. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. Our Grade 5/6 students will lead the school in prayer and reflection tomorrow just prior to the minute of silence. Thank you to all the students who have purchased a poppy of a badge over the last few weeks.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone.
