Report
Mrs Alice Wigny
Hello from Mrs Wigny,
Looking ahead to the last few weeks of school, we are moving into a time of reflection and celebration. We are looking forward to Rainbow Fest, Gumaraa, Presentation Day, Year 6 Farewell and class parties.
STAFFING NEWS
It is with mixed feelings that I announce that Mr James Lloyd will be leaving our school at the end of this Term. Mr Lloyd has decided to take up an Assistant Principal role at another school in the Illawarra. I would also like to congratulate Mrs Sarah Beesley who has been appointed at Tullimbar Public school, commencing 2023 and finally, congratulations to Mr Peter Willis who secured a permanent teaching position at Bowral School via a closed merit selection.
On behalf of students, staff and the community I would like to sincerely thank Mr Lloyd. Mrs Beesley and Mr Willis for their hard work, dedication, commitment and loyalty to our many students, families and staff at Oak Flats Public School. We wish them all the best at their new school and we know that the memories of Oak Flats Public School will stay with them.
A THANK YOU TO THE 2022 P&C
I would like to acknowledge and thank our hard-working 2022 P&C, a wonderfully supportive group of parents who are passionate about our school and provide great opportunities for our students. We look forward to a continued partnership with the newly elected P&C, building a collaborative and nurturing whole school community.
CAROLS AT THE FLATS
Carols at the Flats will be held on Thursday 8th December 2022 on the Senior Field, commencing at 5pm and concluding at 8pm. This is an event for Oak Flats Public School students and families. It will be a wonderful evening of student Christmas carols, songs and dance performances on stage. Families are invited to bring a rug, have a picnic and/or purchase food from the various vans on the night.
On the night:
It is a requirement of entry that all students are accompanied by their parents/carers. This is an alcohol, drug and smoke free event. Security guards will be at the event.
Finally, if rain is forecast, unfortunately the event will be cancelled and an announcement will be made on Facebook by 5pm, Wednesday, 7/12/2022.
We are all looking forward to a wonderful evening at Oak Flats Public School.
PRESENTATION ASSEMBLY
Our annual Presentation Assembly will be held in the Primary COLA on Monday 12 December, commencing at 9.30am. This is a time when teachers present class awards and some very special individual awards. Student leaders for 2023 will also be announced. Please come along and join us as we celebrate the wonderful student and school achievements of this year.
2023 ENROLMENTS
We are currently finalising class structures for 2023. If your child is moving from Oak Flats Public School at the end of the year, could you please advise the school office as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any families moving into Oak Flats and are planning on enrolling their child/children at our school next year, please let us know as grade numbers have a significant impact on the formation of classes.
YEAR 6 FAREWELL
On Thursday December 15 our Year 6 students will look forward to attending the Year 6 Farewell at the Shellharbour Club, commencing at 6.00pm. The students and teachers will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing together, and parents and carers are invited and welcome to join us at 8.15pm where there will be an address by teachers, presentation of certificates and viewing of the Year 6 video. The evening concludes at 9.00pm.
SEMESTER 2 STUDENT REPORTS

STRATEGIC IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Teachers and executive staff have been working towards evaluating our strategic milestones and student and school data for 2022. This year has been highlighted by many successful programs and initiatives and we are very proud of our achievements. At Oak Flats there is a clear positive learning culture supported by an environment of positive behaviour and respect with all members of our school community working to build and striving to continue developing into the future.
Oak Flats Public School is a happy and supportive school with dedicated teachers who work hard to ensure all students achieve academic, social and emotional success. As we work through the evaluation process, we are also looking ahead and planning for 2023. We look forward to new educational opportunities and the continuation of many of our existing successful programs next year.
As Relieving Principal, I am very proud of the academic achievements of our students and the ongoing success of the strategies being implemented by the school to create high quality learning experiences for our students. It has been my pleasure to lead the school in our ongoing pursuit of excellence, supported by our dedicated and committed students, staff and parents.
Have a great fortnight.
