2022 Art Show and Twilight Market

The clouds parted and the sun shone down on us after a week of wet weather. We were delighted by the blue skies and that our prayers were answered for fine weather for our 2022 Art Show and Twilight Market!!

It was the first time in four years that we have been able to hold this BIG bi-annual school community event in 2020, we had to be satisfied with an online art show. However, we were determined to ensure this special event in our school calendar was going to go ahead and GO ahead it sure did!!

Huge credit to our twinkling stars and budding artists for their great creativity  that was on display. Massive thanks to Louise our Creative Arts Specialist teacher for her detailed planning of the various art experiences that the children have had opportunities to engage in throughout this year. Thanks also to our staff, for the many additional art experiences they also provided for their home groups. The Learning Spaces and every inch of the school including the corridors were ablaze with colour and artistic talent. Thanks to every member of staff who put in the above and beyond effort to ensure the art was displayed in unique and creative ways. It was like a massive art gallery.

Entering the school from the staff car park and down to LS3 there were a variety of Market Stalls. This year due to our construction works, the stalls were mainly at the front of the school and they were a colourful and welcoming sight on arrival. I am sure the sight of Twisted Spuds or the wafting smells of paella, calamari or sausages sizzling were a magnet for hungry tummies ravenous for a twilight snack or dinner. We had a huge variety of stalls even though a few pulled out at the last minute expecting poor weather. A MASSIVE thanks to Rachel for coordinating her first Twilight Market. A huge feat and a bit concerning with the recent weather reports but Rachel's coordination and communication with stall holders and staff was magnificent. After the cancellation of 2020 Twilight Market it was sensational to finally have everyone gather , relax and connect on the school grounds.

Everyone made a great contribution from Kristy and the amazing SFS school choir, to tarantula dancers with Daniella, Lulli with a basketball shootout and the biggest kick and Tarryn with Digital art activities and helping me out with photos. It was great to see the variety of school based stalls from our many Senior Action Teams, Mini Vinnies, staff lolly bag stall (that was sold out in record time), to the new P&F stall - coin toss for a chocolate block. There was something for everyone big and small from nail painting, to face painting, time to do some shopping for a bargain and finish it off with a hot cuppa and delicious cake.

A BIG thank you to our school community who came out and supported this event, thanks for bringing your coins, family members and neighbours. Your presence made it special. Thank you for supporting the great artists of our school by taking the time to visit the Art Show and participate in the various competitions. Were you able to solve the scavenger hunt? Winners for the Junior and Senior Scavenger Hunt will be announced by Louise.

Well done St Francis de Sales School Community. It was disappointing that I was ill and unable to make it myself. However I was kept up to date, even given a tour and sent lots of pictures. I feel immensely proud of our staff, our students and our entire school community.

Become an Authorised Volunteer

St Francis de Sales Primary School, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all students, and the creation of a just and respectful environment that supports the health and wellbeing of the school community. All in our school have a duty of care, a moral obligation and a shared responsibility to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.

Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required by persons doing child-related work in Victoria as paid workers or volunteers. Parents who wish to volunteer at the school during school hours, (Participate in an excursion, help with swimming/sports, help in the classroom, sell icypoles/popcorn as a P&F member etc) must have a current WWCC and be authorised as a volunteer.

4 Step Volunteer Pre-Authorisation Screening Requirements:

1. Prior to being considered for authorisation in any voluntary capacity by St Francis de Sales Primary School, all potential applicants must hold a current (within 5 years of issue) Working With Children’s Check (WWCC).  Please present your WWCC to the office to register as a volunteer. A WWCC is available FREE for volunteers. If you know you'll be doing child-related work in Victoria, you can now apply online from anywhere in Australia.

2. Upon receipt of a copy by the school of a current WWCC, the applicant will need to provide a signed copy of St Francis de Sales Primary School’s Child Safety Code of Conduct.  The latest Child Safety Code is available on our school website.

3. The applicant will be required to provide/update all relevant contact details.

4. Subsequent to this, the applicant will be provided with a briefing from a member of staff as to exclusion/restricted areas and information pertaining to the school’s Emergency Management.

At St. Francis de Sales we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people entrusted in our care as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school.

We welcome parents to become a volunteer at the school. It is just four simple steps to become an authorised volunteer and to work with us to ensure we maintain a child safe environment.
