Principal's Notes

Dear families and friends,

Our Swimming Carnival is now planned for Friday December 9th at HILAC from 12 noon to 3pm.

Due to the recent poor weather, we have decided to book HILAC for our carnival this year. We have the whole venue booked out for our exclusive use. All students are required to attend school for the first morning session and then will go into HILAC on a bus at 11.20am together. Parents and families are very welcome to attend and support our students. Students can either go home with their families from the pool or go back on the bus in time for the normal school bus run.

We will continue to follow a similar program with events aimed at swimming ability rather than age based. A permission note will be sent home on Monday and a program and further information will be sent home closer to the date.

Swimming

Our swimming program has been off to a great start this week and I can already see the improvement in the students swimming skills. Our program is planned for the beginning of summer each year to keep our student's water safety knowledge ready for the summer holidays and increased time near water. Please remember that there is no swimming next Monday as it is a student free day.  The lessons resume on Tuesday and continue to the end of next week.  There are lots of photos included later in the newsletter as well.

Transition Day for Foundation 2023

Monday morning our eight future Foundation students had their second transition session at school. We had lots of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know each student a little more. Merryn and Alicia from the Cavendish Kinder have really prepared the students for school. They showed great listening and a good level of skill in cutting, drawing, colouring and pasting.

The next session is on December 5th (9-1pm) and Miss Amy Gray will be here with me to join in and meet her new class. At 9am, we also have a parent information session run by our Parents Club. Trish Hurley and Callie Leese will be here to help with uniforms, answering any questions and getting to know our new families.

Cyber Safety

This week we have really focused on Cyber Safety with our students. We had some very special visitors at school on Monday. We had Paul McLean our local policeman, Senior Constable Kel Flavel from Hamilton and from Warrnambool Leading Senior Constable John Keats and Leading Senior Constable Brooke Pollock visit our school. I am hoping to organise a parent information night early next year, so parents can learn how to assist their children keeping them safe online in this digital world we live in.

MARC books

Some children were sent home last Friday with a list of outstanding books to be returned for the MARC Van.  Could parents and students please have a look at home and return them as soon as possible.

DON'T FORGOT IT'S A STUDENT FREE DAY ON MONDAY!

Have a lovely weekend,

Lisa Ferrier
