From the Principal

Orientation Day Friday 18 November

This Friday presents an opportunity for the School to welcome new students along with orientating our current Year Six students to Secondary School.  Could I please encourage Year Six parents to attend with their child to understand and become familiar with the routines of Secondary School and to welcome new students and parents to Great Southern Grammar.  The day will also provide an opportunity to affirm our new Secondary structure for next year.

Secondary Interhouse Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to Baudin House for their well-deserved victory in the Interhouse Athletics Carnival.  A number of events had to be rescheduled after they were postponed due to inclement weather.  Congratulations to Baudin Captains Albert Gouldthorp and Jessica Turner, along with Head of House, Mr Neil Ferreira.

Albany Agricultural Show

The Albany Show provided an opportunity to showcase our community spirit.  The face painting, free affogatos and giveaways provided opportunities for staff and students to interact with the general public.  Mrs Julia Bairstow, Community Relations Manager, provided the coordination for the successful event along with students, staff, and the Facilities team for the transport of equipment to and from the Show.

Outside of School Hours Care

Recently the School surveyed Junior School parents to identify their interest in Outside of School Hours Care.  Overall, there was a positive response for after-school care across the year groups with little support for before-school care.  Given parent interest, the School is progressing towards the next stage of working with The Village Child Care Services, as the provider for this service.  If staffing can be sourced, along with maintaining interest, the School and the provider will be able to formally confirm the service for 2023.  The Village Child Care Services is now seeking expressions of interest for staff, further information can be found in the Community News section of this issue.
