Getting Job Ready

This week, a group of students had the opportunity to participate in a one day workshop at Cecil Hills High School preparing them to secure work experience and any other employment opportunities.

The workshop was a fun, interactive and engaging way to introduce students to the world of work and what employers are looking for in young people seeking work.  No-one remembers the exact words delivered in a lecture, but they do remember when they were shown hands on, and given a real experience. That's exactly what happened in the EDGE workshop. EDGE stands for Education, Deportment, Grooming, & Employability Skills.

Presented by Sharna Dawson and her wonderful team of industry professionals, stylists, make-up artists and barbers, students learned about everything from how to tackle a job interview and write up a cover letter, to how they present themselves and communicate with employers.
