Upcoming in PE

Just like that, we are nearing the end of another term in Physical Education. It has been great fun to see the students engaging with each other and participating in a wide range of games and activities. We have moved away from minor games and have focused in on Fundamental Movement Skills in the junior levels, Basketball in Year 3/4 and Invasion Games in Year 5/6.

Foundation: Fundamental Movement Skills - Kicking (Soccer)

Year 1/2: Fundamental Movement Skills - Punting (AFL)

Year 3/4: Basketball (Sporting Schools)

Year 5/6: Invasion Games

Our Year 5/6 students have spent the best part of this term working together to learn all about Invasion Games (with a focus on modified European Handball) - where invading space is just as important on defence as it is in on offence. The students have been placed in randomly allocated teams, allowing them to work together and find different ways to achieve their goal. Whilst I would have loved to have had a day where all Year 5/6 students could've participated in a "Gala Day" - we will be finishing our Physical Education program by holding 3 minor tournaments in their Week 10 PE lessons. I look forward to presenting the 3 teams from each class, as well as their team names and final results, in our final newsletter.

2021 St Raphael's Swimming Trials

In the coming weeks, I will be talking to the students in Year 3 - 6 about our 2021 Swimming Trials, to be held on Friday 5th February at Northcote Aquatic Centre*. Without our annual Aquatic Education program, I will be using feedback from the 2019 Aquatic Education program, as well as prior knowledge to select these students. Further information will be communicated in coming weeks.
