Upon the return to school from remote learning our Year 7 students are having a great time learning how to use sewing machines! Here is Callum and Sara from 7D learning how to steer in textiles. Students are learning about the function of the machine while creating their cushion covers. We are so excited to be doing practical activities in the classroom again and showcasing a range of skills.

Artist in Schools program - Brett Ashby

The 'Koonung Trail' mural was created in 2019 through the 'Artist in Schools' program. We are equally excited as we await the results of our 2020 program with guest artist Brett Ashby.

Resources for students

It is always interesting to read about the rebranding of a company, and what elements of the previous brand stays, and what is replaced.

'Market research helped the marketing team break down what was most valuable about the existing logo. It was important to keep the logo diamond, Ms Macleod said. But the conjoined "m's" in the word "Commonwealth" have been dropped.'

Read more about the new Commonwealth Bank logo in the article: Gold is the new black for CBA rebrand (This link works sometimes, but more information will be released online soon and you will be able to read more about the new logo).

This would make a great discussion topic for your design classes, with the possibility of setting the students the brief of redesigning a bank logo.

Design Institute Australia

The DIA is the organisation through which designers work for the future of the design professions in Australia.

The Graduate of the Year Awards, GOTYA program, is a unique awards program created to support and celebrate exceptional designers from around Australia in the early stages of their career. This program is instrumental in providing tertiary institutions and design graduates with vital, real-life feedback from experienced designers and industry figures.
